Imagine. "Ok baby girl! We got the popcorn" Darren announced as he put the big bowl on the coffee table. "Hot corn!" Sami jumped in excitement. "We got some candy" he put the other bowl on the coffee table. The little girl grinned when she caught a glimpse at it. "Aaaaand..." Darren turned to her. "We got my favorite toddler in the whole universe!" he smiled and caught Sami in his arms. He made her jump in the air and caught her. Her laughter filled the room, her smile illuminated it and her long dark curls were moving around at every jump. "Come on, princess" he smiled and put her on the couch. He took the two bowls in his hand and sat next to her. "We're good Sam?" he asked, the remote now in his hands. "Wait, Daddy!" she stopped him. "What? What did we forget?" he responded. "Blankie" she turned to him. Her eyes were similar to her father's puppy eyes at the moment. That made him chuckle. "Go pick it up! It's on the table!" he pat her hair. Sami hurried to pick it up and ran back her father. The way she was running had always been one of Darren's favorite thing, when her legs go all over the place and the smile grew up on her face. She climbed back on the couch next to her dad and nodded at him. "Good" she said.
They both enjoyed The Little Mermaid, both captivated by the movie. Without having the time to care about it, the popcorn bowl and the bowl of candy got emptier and emptier during the night. They cuddled, laughed, and screamed at the screen. And both of the bowls were empty by the end of the movie.
"Was that fun?" Darren asked her as he turns off the tv. "Ya!" Sami jumped on the couch. "Daddy, wawa" she suddenly stopped. "Water? Here" he leaned on the coffee table and took her bottle full of water. The little girl jumped from the couch to the ground like a ninja, and took the bottle in her hands before taking a sip. She kept it against her as she started to run all around the couch. She was running so much around him that he thought she would probably fall at some point because of her head turning. She giggled loudly. "Uhm... Sam... Did I give you too much candy?" he asked, always trying to keep an eye on her. "Ya!" she screamed back. He laughed as she kept running.
"Urgh. Thanks God I'm done" you sighed when you got out of your office. You stretched your arms and waited for Sami to pass you and jumped on the couch next to your husband. "What's up with The Roadrunner?" you asked. "I think I made a mistake" Darren crunched his face. "What's going on?" you started to worry. "I gave her candy" he said in a guilty tone. "How much?" you asked right away. He pointed one of the bowl on the coffee table "I put it in that bowl and-" "She ate all of it by herself?" you asked with wide eyes. "No, I helped" Darren reassured you. "Oh... Okay. Well... We're in for a long struggle honey" you explained. Your daughter was still running all around you. "I'm sorry" Darren said and kissed your cheek. "I should have given her one or two and not put them all in a bowl". "Yeah. But that's okay. We'll make it" you winked.
"Sam, honey it's night-night time" you announced. "Nooooo" she said, dissapointed, but kept running. "How long do you think she can keep running before she starts crawling on the floor from exhaustion?" he asked with a sly smile. You giggled "I give her 5 minutes" you bet. "I say 10" Darren pinched his lips. "Ok, deal" you highed five him. You just had to wait and see. After a few minutes, you saw her running slower and slower. "I'm gonna win" you whispered to him. "Come on Sam. I gave you so much sugar, you can make Daddy win. I'm sure you're not that tired!" he encouraged her. You playfully hit him and giggled.
She seemed to run faster for a few steps but quickly slowed down again until she stopped in front of you. She took another sip of her water. "Are you done?" you asked, your hand brushing away the curls off her forehead. She was out of breath, but nodded as response. "Good girl" you kissed her cheek. "Plus, you made Mommy win" you grinned. "Congrats" Darren chuckled next to you. "Thanks!" you smiled and took your daughter in your arms as you stood up from the couch. "Ok time for bed now. Give Daddy a kiss" you say to her as you bend her towards Darren. She gave him a kiss and gets back to you, putting her head in the crook of your neck. "What do I owe you since you won?" he asked. "Uhm... I guess you'll have to buy me that same amount of candy" you chuckled. Sami jolted up at the word and she almost screamed in a half excited half tired voice "Candy!". "You had enough" you giggled and put her head back on your shoulder. "She's too cute" he smiled, looking at the both of you. "She's my daughter, of course she's cute" you shrugged. He giggled "How humble" he sarcastically noticed. "I try" you giggle on your way to Sami's room.
He blew you a kiss before you enter her room and you winked back. You would never get tired of him, even of his candy mistakes.
