Imagine. Darren and you were exhausted after a very long night at an event. Red carpets, pictures, boring conversations filled your night. The only thing you had the courage to do once you got back home, very late at night, was trading your dress for a pjs, fall on your bed and cuddle your partner. A kiss and some mumbled words later, you were fast asleep next to him.

It felt like a five minute sleep though, when a huge amount of light hit your face. You turned in bed to bury your head in your fiancé, who was groaning and kept his eyes shut. "Heeeeelloooooo people!" Joey screamed joyfully into the room as he opened the curtain of the second window. "What the hell" you mumbled and yawned. "Dude are you serious? It's the morning!" Darren whined when he finally opened his eyes. "Well, I wouldn't consider 1 pm morning, but okay" Joey said sarcastically. "Remind me why he has a key?" you asked Darren in your still sleepy voice. "Because I'm your best friend and you're grateful to have me around. Come on, get up! I wanted to take you out for lunch, but looks like it's gonna be breakfast for you two" he explained. "The bed is too good" you said and cuddled closer to Darren. "Don't care. The outside is good too! Get your asses up!" Joey ordered and took away the sheets from the bed. "Richter, we had a long night" Darren tried to explain once he sat up and rubbed his eyes. "Good for you! Keeping the sex on even after all these years. I'm proud of you guys" Joey joked and tapped Darren's shoulder. "Get ready. I'll be waiting for you in the car. You have 20 minutes" he informed you with a smile. He walked energetically to the door and slammed it behind him. "Come on, babe. You heard him" Darren said and put a kiss on your forehead. "Do we really have to?" you asked and clutched the closest pillow. "Yep. Come on" he said and jumped out of bed. He took you on his back and walked to the bathroom as you laid your head on his shoulder.

"I love this song" Joey said and increased the volume of the radio. "Sing with me?" he proposed. "Nope" "Not gonna happen" Darren and you answered. "Too bad. It could have been such a bonding experience between us" Joey pouted. You grinned and shook your head. You had no idea why he suddenly wanted to take you out, but it was not like you were going to complain. The guy took you out for lunch with your fiancé, was nice enough to stick around for years through all the shit you went through. You were very happy to have someone like him and you were happy to know Darren had the same connection with him too. "Please don't fall off your chair like last time" you said with a smirk. "What? Hey, you weren't supposed to talk about that, you bastard!" Joey said and playfully slapped Darren's arm, who was laughing. "What's the point of getting married if I can't make fun of you with her?" he argued back. "Good point" Joey noticed. You spend the day together and around 6pm, Joey drove you back home. "Ok you're ready?" he asked with a slight smile once he parked in front of the house. "Ready for what?" Darren asked. Both of your faces sported frowns. "Guess you'll have to find out" he winked. You turned to Darren, who shot you a confused look. You just shrugged and got out of the car. You walked to the entry and Joey let you both in front. You were almost scared to open the door. Darren did it though and slowly opened it, revealing a dark house.

He took your hand and you both took a step inside when the lights turned on. "SURPRISE!" all the people shouted at the same time as confetti flied in the room. You grinned and looked around. 'Congrats on your engagement!' you could read on one of the banners. "Mom? Dad? What are you doing here?" Darren said happily and ran to hug them. "You thought we would miss the fun?" Bill exclaimed and ruffled his son's hair. "HUG ALERT!" Jaime said and ran to you as your grin hurt your face. You hadn't seen her in ages.

You turned to Joey who smiled and nodded to you. You mouthed a 'Thank You' from far away and he rose his glass in return. You giggled and shook your head. This is what a best friend looked like.
