Don't Be Afraid

Imagine. You were on vacation in Italy with Darren and your kids before your husband started to shoot his new movie. You were enjoying a great sunny day at the pool. Sami was drawing some things on the deck chair beside you and you were looking at your husband and your son. Darren was in the pool, his sunglasses on. And Kyle was stepping slowly towards Darren at the edge of the pool. He wore a cute green swim shorts with a hat because of the sun, and of course, floaties. He was only 4 after all. "Daddy I'm scared" you heard him say to his dad as he looked at the ground, his little fingers rubbing into each other. "Don't be scared buddy, pools are not scary! Daddy's in here! Everything's gonna be fine" Darren reassures him. He came closer to the edge and put his hands out of the water. "Promise?" Kyle asked as he lift up his head. Darren chuckled and responds "Promise". Kyle stepped to the edge of the pool and looked at Darren. "Do you wanna jump?" Darren asked. As the only answer, Kyle nodded energetically. Darren giggled again before saying "You can! I'll catch you! Don't worry sweetheart, I'll always have your back". An encouraging smile grew on Darren's face as Kyle started to get more relaxed. Kyle took some time, but he eventually jumped into the water, straight into his dad's arms. "Daddy don't let me go!" Kyle exclaims as he put his tiny arms around Darren's neck, almost choking him. "I won't Kyle. I promised, I will never let you go if you don't want to" said Darren calmly as he pets Kyle's back. But the little man seemed not to be reassure by the fact his feet didn't touch the floor. Darren had to hold Kyle with one arm around his son and to lift up his sunglasses to look at Kyle right in his hazel eyes. "Don't be scared baby. I'm here. Did I let go of you only once? I would never do that. I know it's not funny to be scared.

Kyle hugged Darren tightly and put his head on his neck as the answer. You pout at the scene, how cute. Sami came sitting between your legs and cuddled against you. You took her pen and took a paper to draw something with her. Probably a dog, that's the only thing you could draw at least properly. After a few minutes into the water, you noticed Kyle let go of Darren and started to move on his own as your husband taught him how to swim. You smile fondly at the view. You kiss Sami's forehead and go back to your drawing. "Mommy is that a bear?" she asked confused as she looked up at you. You really needed to improve your drawing skills.
