"Well, it was great seeing you mother," I said to her, as we stepped out of the restaurant.
The streets lights were on, as the red or green signs from the restaurants around us were being filled with guest and hungry couples. If you glanced around the area for a bit, you could get a perfect view of the Seattle skyline...or if you looked hard enough, even Seattle Grace.
"It was nice finally knowing where my two children were after all these years. Now don't be afraid to call me, or even visit me." She said, as her hand met our faces.
"I'm just happy you two have been there for each other, after everything."
Watching as Derek opened the car door for her, I waited beside him until our mother was seated inside.
"Promise to call when you get the chance.." She adds.
"Of course, Mother," Derek said, as her driver was pulling out of the curb.
Feeling the cold wind hit against my skin, I bring my arms up to my shoulders. And at this very moment, I knew exactly where I was.
This was the Market Place. Well, the nice side of the Marker Place, where the higher end restaurants were being kept cleaned. This was the second place that Jackson took me on our date, the same place where we got our Ice Cream, and the coffee.
"You're not cold?" Derek asks as he had his hands in his pockets.
"No, not really."
Wrapping his arm around mine, he takes me to my car just down the street.
Taking it slow, as we walked down the boulevard. I had to take small breaths, in order to keep myself intact. I could feel my arms shiver, and my heart loses its rhythm from every step I took.
"You're shaking, Elena."
"I'm fine, Derek. I've been wearing these heels all day, my feet are killing me."
"Well, you have the entire weekend to not wear any shoes around your house."
"Yeah.."
"Hey, I heard that Mark and Jackson are doing an entire face swap."
"When?" I asked.
"In a few weeks, I think? Probably after Christmas. Mark said that the patient was burned a few years back from sulfuric acid, and he wants to face swap his, with another person."
"Well, That seems like a challenging surgery."
"You didn't know, did you?"
"It's Mark's patient. Not mine. He can do whatever he wants.."
Stopping in front of my car, I let go of Derek's arm, before opening the driver's side.
"You okay?" He asked.
"Yeah, why?"
"Nothing, it's just you didn't speak much at dinner. Then at the Hospital, when Jackson left the Attending's lounge."
Hearing his name come out of his mouth, gave me that same empty feeling I had earlier today.
A bottomless pit, of nothingness.
"It's nothing."
"Okay then. Goodnight."
"Goodnight," I whisper.

Turning the doorknob, I walk into a dark room, where the only light supply, was coming from the kitchen.
"Tobes.."
Dropping my purse on the table next to the door, I take off my heels, just as Tobes walk in the foyer.
