2 MONTHS LATER
"Here you go," I say to Cristina as I dangle a set of keys in front of her face.
"What are those..."
"Keys...to this Hospital.
"I can't believe it..." She whispered.
"Well...believe it. This Hospital is yours now."
"But you just finished your 3-D printed hearts? Why leave?" She asked.
"I've given my time here. And made so many memories, that I will never forget. You deserve that too, a lifetime of memories."
"Thank you..."
Standing in my office Cristina and I embrace each other for the last time.
"You flew me out for this...to give me a hospital?" Yang asked.
"You are one of the most talented students I've ever had in Cardio. You finished your fellowship, and this is your present...this is your home now," I add as I glance around the room.
Seeing as the sunlight coming through the window behind her, it casts a shadow on the floor.
"You'll be okay. Just don't let Wendy boss you around...probably the biggest mistake I've made."
Grabbing my purse from the table behind me, I put on my jacket.
"Where are you going?" She asked.
"I have some work that I need to take care of. Goodluck, call me when things get hard..." I whispered.
Heading out of Yang's office, I close the door behind me and look at the sign one more time.
'Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Dr. Cristina Yang.'
Heading down the hall, I say goodbye to the ladies in the offices before taking the elevator down to the main floor.
"How about one last coffee break for old time sakes," Agost asked, the coffee guy on the first floor, as I walked out of the elevator.
"That would be nice."
"So, where is Dr. Hot-Shot going?" He joked as he made a new pot.
"I have another job to get to..."
"More traveling? How is the Mr?"
"He's doing well, packing actually...he's excited for me."
"Good. Then I am too. Just remember us little folk when you get to where ever you're heading."
"I will," I say as I take the cup out of his hands.
Calling a local taxi, I give him my address and take out my phone just as he drives out of the parking lot.
Checking my phone calls and messages, I give Derek a call.
"Hey, Elena. How was England?" He asked.
"Um...great actually," I whisper as I look down at my hand.
"That doesn't sound promising?"
"Sorry, I just gave Yang the keys to my Hospital. It was emotional, but you know her...no tears."
"Yeah, you know I still can't believe you did that? Meredith was pissed for a while, but now she's happy for her best friend."
"How's Boston? Any luck?"
"I was struggling for a while, but I've been in contact with them a few times."
"You mean, you're still in Seattle?" I asked.
