Walking into the attendings lounge, Jackson stood in front of the coffee machine with a muffin beside him.
"Morning." He whispered.
"Hey, can you pour me one of those?" I asked as I took a seat on the table.
"You now we eat of that table, right?"
"There's been worst things on this than my ass." I blurted out.
"Okay..."
"Sorry, I have surgery today for Julie. CPS is coming to take for to a group home in Portland, her so-called 'Parents' pleaded guilty." I added.
"Whoa, what?" Handing my the cup of coffee, I take a long sip.
"Yeah...I have to go and get her release papers from the front desk before she leaves."
"Isn't she like 17?"
"Yeah, but she's a junior in high school...whether she's even going to school?" I questioned.
"Well, what about her biological parents? Could you find them?"
"I could but it would take weeks and Julie doesn't have that much time before she's taken away."
"I'll make some calls," Jackson whispered as he kissed my forehead.
"Hey, have either of you seen Bailey?" April asked us.
"Um, she's coming late, why?" I blurted.
"Dr. Minnick's been up my ass this entire time, how long is she planning on staying here?"
"Now, that you're gonna have to ask Bailey, because I have no authority when it comes to hiring new people for this hospital."
"Wait, what?"
"Bailey thinks she knows best for this hospital without Elena's input," Jackson whispered to April.
"That's ridiculous."
"I know," I whispered, taking another sip of coffee.
"Oh, how did that date go last night?" Jackson asked.
Glancing over at the two of them, April's widened her eyes before looking down at the muffin in her hands.
"You kidding? It was great. It was, like, just so fun...so fun." She emphasized.
"I mean, he's, like...He's actually...you know, he's pretty amazing." She smiled.
"Amazing?" I questioned sarcastically.
"Mmm."
"How so?" Jackson asked.
"Like, so amazing that, uh, we're gonna...we're actually gonna go out again tonight. That how so amazing it was."
"Oh, that's great."
Drinking my coffee, I glanced over at April, who had nothing more to say about her 'amazing' date.
"This coffee is, like-"
"Amazing," I added.
"Y-yeah..." Awkwardly getting up from the chair, April turns around and walks out of the lounge.
"What was that about?" I asked.
"I overheard some attendings-"
"You mean, Arizona?"
"Yeah. She said that April's on tinder?"
"Oh, wow. Good for her...but it seems like..."
"Yeah, I know." He gasped.
