Intervention

Jackson's POV

Opening my eyes, I stretch my arms up before I roll over to Elena's side to find it empty and cold.

The sun was barely rising through the window leading out to the porch from our bedroom. The door to the restroom was closed, while the bedroom door was creaked open.

"Elena?" I grunt.

I heard the sound of singing from the hallway and jump out of bed as quickly as I could.

"Elena?"

Walking down the hall, I found Elena carrying our daughter around the room.

"Oh, hey." She whispered as she held Eliza's head close to her chest.

"How long have you been up?"

"Since 4...I fed her but she wouldn't go to sleep. So, I've been singing to her ever since."

Standing next to the doorframe, she smiles down at Eliza. Kissing her forehead, she starts to sing a song again.

"I see the way that you look when your hear his name. I see his picture up in your door frame."

Walking over to the rocking chair in the corner of the room, I sit down and watch her dance around the room.

"You're a tower of strength when you're breaking down. But through the wall, I can feel your cry."

Rocking back and forth, I closed my eyes as I listened to Elena singing.

"Here and now. You're afraid. Don't you worry, I'll teach you to fly before you fall away."

Opening my eyes, Eliza was already asleep in her crib when Elena was finished singing.

"When did you learn that song?" I whispered.

"My mom...she used to sing that to me when I couldn't sleep."

Heading out of the room, the two of us go back to bed, sleeping the rest of the time we have left.

5 DAYS LATER

Elena's POV

Coming out of the O.R., I put my coat back on when my phone rings.

"This is Dr.Shepherd."

Pressing the button for the elevator, my pager starts beeping like crazy.

"Yeah, I'll be right there."

Running down the hall, I push open the emergency stairs door and climb up to the 1st floor.

"Dr. Shepherd, they need you-"

"I know Sheldon!"

Heading down to the E.R, I pass by Jackson down the hall.

"Hey, you got paged too?" He said.

"Yeah."

"Hey, I was thinking we could have a night to ourselves."

"Like a date? I thought we were passed the whole boyfriend/girlfriend phase, you know, now that we have a baby?" I joked as I went through the double doors.

"As a couple, we haven't really done anything, so what do you say?"

"Dr. Shepherd we need you out here."

"Um, yeah. Sure." I blurted out as I ran outside.

Watching as the ambulance parks in front of the clinic, Richard, Owen, Jackson, and I ran after the door.
