2 MONTHS LATER: 8 Months Pregnant

"And then I fell asleep in the car..." Derek says, as I take a bite of my salad.

"What did Mer say?"

"Nothing, she gave me her 'I'm gonna kill you for sleeping in the car, and forget to bring milk.' face."

"I would too, if my husband ever did that."

Enjoying the rest of his food, as sits back and watches me eat for a minute.

"Stop it?" I said.

"What? I'm not doing anything to you?"

"You're staring at me while I eat? It's weird." I said.

"It's just weird for me..seeing like this. Pregnant, I mean, you're going to be a mother in like a few months?"

"I know, I can't believe me either. I pictured myself married with a nice big house, and a dog, and probably two kids by the time I'm 30?"

"And you're 26, with no husband, and a baby on the way.."

"At least I have a nice house right?"

"Yeah."

Taking the last bite of my salad, Derek and I head out for work.

"So, you have an Ulnar Nerve Decompression later this afternoon, and I have a Crainiotomy." Derek says, as we both grab our coffee and tea.

"Yeah, and then remember I have to get my prenatal testing this afternoon, so I won't be able to let you guys into my house and help me finish painting the baby's room." I say.

"That's fine, I think Callie made a copy?"

"Oh, yeah..I forgot."

"Okay, well I have to go. I'll see you later?"

"Yeah, later."

Going up the stairs, I take one last step before reaching the 2nd floor.

"Dr. Shepherd."

"Yes." I say, turning around to speak with a volunteer.

"There's a woman waiting down stairs for you."

"A Woman?"

"She didn't give me a name, she just asked for you."

"...Okay, um, I'll be right there."

Waiting until she leaves, I take a right before passing a few doors, and walk into the emergency waiting room.

It was Catherine, with short brown hair, and a black trench coat. She had her back towards me, until she hears my footsteps coming up behind her.

"Catherine? What are you doing here?" I asked her, seeing as she turned around, and her eyes went straight to my stomach.

"So it's not a joke..You are pregnant."

"Who told you it was a joke?" I asked, as I leaned on the counter.

"Richard called..he flew me here for you."

"Me? Why would you come to Seattle to speak to me."

"Because..."

Slowing glancing down at my stomach, I re-make eye contact with her again.

"Because I'm pregnant? That makes no sense?"

"Because you're a single mother. I know how it feels like to have a baby at such a young age."

Confused, I begin to question what her real intention was of being here at the Hospital.

"Catherine, I'm not 16 years old?"
