Walking beside Jackson, the both of us stride into the attendings lounge where Richard and Maggie were sitting eating breakfast.

"Oh, good, you're here. Did April say anything? Like why she jumped ship?" Richard asked.

"I haven't seen her? I'm honestly, trying to ignore Bailey." I said.

"She's slinking, then," Maggie added.

"She knows what she did. She's slinking. Traitor."

"Look, I can't believe that she would have done this, either," Jackson said.

"I can't believe Bailey asked her," Arizona said as she walked out of the bathroom.

"How long....nevermind," I whispered.

"How's Grey holding up?" I turned to say to Maggie.

"She's bored. She's worried Kepner's gonna kill all of her patients."

"Kepner's a solid surgeon. You have to give her that, no matter how everyone feels about taking the job."

"Of course she's a great surgeon," I said.

"Guy's, we're losing ground here, okay? We lost Grey. We're...now losing April-"

"And we don't have the residents. They love Minnick-"

"They won't after she messes something up for them," I whispered as I took a sip of my coffee.

"Doesn't she start phase two of her program?" Richard asked me.

"What's phase two?"

Glancing around the room, everyone immediately looks over at Maggie.

"A resident gets to be the primary surgeon on their own case. One procedure, pre-op to post-op, start to finish."

"Under supervision, right?" Richard asked.

"Yeah, but the resident does it all. The attending is there to assist."

"I don't assist...I do." I blurted out.

"You have no choice, it's their day."

"Over my dead body. If Minnick gives a neuro procedure to a resident I'm gonna make her murder look like an accident." I hissed as I turned around to finish my cup of coffee.

Standing beside Richard in front of the nurse's station, I sat up as Jackson was walking over to us.

"Can you check Mr. Lewis' drains for me, please?" He asked a nurse.

"Yes, doctor."

Walking closely to the both of us, Jackson and Richard lean in closer.

"All right, I've been thinking. We are in a corner. Okay? It's time." He whispered.

Glancing up at Richard, I raised both eyebrows in confusion.

"One of us needs to talk to my mother about this, and I know what you're gonna say, all right? I don't care how it looks-"

"Jackson, she knows," Richard said.

"Sh...she what?"

"She knew before the both of us...before anyone," I added.

"No, she...sh...this was my mother's idea?" He blurted out.

"I thought this was Bailey's."

"So did we...but Bailey decided that we didn't need-"

"You should stop talking right now," Jackson said as he cut Richard off.
