"Thanks...for today," I whisper to Jackson as he drops me off at Derek and Meredith's house.
"No problem, it was nice...finally having some peace and quiet."
"I'll see you tomorrow?"
"See ya."
Closing his car door, I turned to walk up to the porch and see Meredith cleaning up the living room.
"Hey, did Derek call you?" She asks just as I hang my coat on the hanger.
"Um, no...they told me he never made it to his meeting?"
"Yeah, they told me that. I'm just-"
"Hey, don't worry. He's probably just working on what he's going to say to the president when he gets there. You know how he is with his speeches."
Grabbing Zola's toys I throw them into the gray bin in the corner.
"So, how was work?" She asked.
"Normal...why?"
"I saw you...with Arizona."
"Meredith, I'm fine-"
"Are you? Yesterday there were two dead cops, killed by a teenager...and then you operate on the victim's boyfriend."
"Mer..." I sigh as I hold onto Bailey's blanket.
"Sorry, I can't help but think that this week just isn't the best."
"Well, I argued with Amelia at work today...so it was just peachy."
"Mam!" Theo yells as he turns the corner to see me.
"Yeah, kid. You ready to go home."
"Yeah. Zola and I played chutes and ladders."
"Who won?" I asked.
"...Zola.."
"Good," I whispered.
"Now, go put on your jacket. I just need to help Aunt Mer with some things, okay?"
"Okay."
"I can take care of this, really?"
"You have two kids...hyper kids. Okay, I've only had one but I'm also a peds surgeon."
"Okay, whatever." She says throwing me Zola's blanket.
"Wait? How did you get here?" She asked as I made my way to the laundry room.
"What do you mean?"
"Like, who did you drive here? I didn't hear your car?"
"Um...Jackson. He took me out to get some fresh air during work."
"And you come back at 6 pm?"
"We also ate?"
"Elena-"
"Okay, nothing's going on."
"No, I'm not saying that. I think you deserve someone like Jackson, but what happens to April?"
"I already told you...they're married and they're happy."
"Bullshit."
"Okay?" I questioned.
"I know that they've been fighting because Kepner can't stop foreshadowing every one of her patients without mentioning Jackson."
"For how long?"
"I don't know...maybe a month now?"
Glancing down at the wooden floor, I held a bottle of water in my hands.
