There was a quote, I read not that long ago. About Life and Death and the meaning behind feeling alive when your soul is finally free, to being trapped, and forced to not be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
"They say you die twice. One time when you stop breathing and a second time, a bit later on, when somebody says your name for the last time. I have come to know that it with death, it is an important thing to keep in mind, not to complain or to make melancholy, but simply because only with the honest knowledge that one day I will die I can ever truly begin to live. People say that, life is so beautiful that death has fallen in love with it, a jealous, possessive love that grabs at what it can. But life leaps over oblivion lightly, losing only a thing or two of no importance, and gloom is just a passing shadow of a cloud."
Staring up at the sky, I could see the sun. Pine trees forecasted their shadows, as their needles laid on the dirt.
Glancing around at the sky, the clouds were hidden. The wind was cold, and still.
Moving my fingers, I could feel rocks underneath my body. Twigs and branches were scattered around me.
It felt like a dream. Like I woke up in this alternate universe, one that I didn't know existed.
"Elena?" Someone mumbles.
The ground shakes besides me, as they crush the twigs beneath their feet.
"Elena!"
Turning my head to the side, I could see Cristina holding her left arm close to her.
"Get up, Elena!" She yells again, but I can't hear. I could only see her mouth move, and her eyes widen.
"Get up!" Grabbing my shirt, she sits me up, and suddenly I can hear.
"Oh, god.." She says.
"What happened? Where are we?" I say as she looks down at her hands soaked in blood.
"I don't ... I ... I don't know. I lost my ... I lost my shoe." She stutters, as she glances at her black sock.
"Where's Derek? And Lexie? Where's Mark?" I urge as I try to lift myself up.
"I don't ... I don't know. I lost a shoe!" She yells.
"Meredith!" I yell, but can't hear her.
"What happened?"
"The plane crashed, that's what happened?" She yells, still holding onto her arm.
"We were on a plane, and it crashed. Plane crash." She repeats.
"Where's Mark? Derek.."
"Derek was sucked out the side when we hit the trees, and then the back of the plane came off. It came... it came off."
Turning around, I begin to feel dizzy almost falling to the ground.
"Lexie...she was in the back of the plane?" I say, blinking a few times.
"I-I looked to the back, and all I could see was the freakin' sky." She yelled, looking up at the trees.
