3 MONTHS LATER
Jackson's POV
Walking down pediatrics hall, I ran into Arizona who was posting a flyer for a roommate on the bulletin board.
"Hey! You excited?" She asked.
"About...?" I say as I glance down at the tablet in my hands.
"April. She's coming in tonight, right?"
"Oh, um, yeah. Have you seen Elena?" I asked.
"She's in the attending's lounge getting ready for her day with Bailey,"
"Great, thanks."
Striding my way to the elevator, I press the button to the 4th floor.
"Hey," Alex said as he stood next to me.
"Hey,"
"You nervous?"
"For what?"
"For Elena? She might be our chief, can you believe that? After, I don't know how many years, your mom's finally giving her the chance."
"Yeah, I mean she deserves it. She's great."
"Yeah, she is."
Stepping out of the elevator together, we walk further down the hallway until he gets called for surgery.
"I'll see you later?"
"Yeah, see ya."
Entering the lounge, I lean on the door as I gaze over at Elena, who was smoothing down her dress. Her hair was nicely curled and pulled back with the remainder of her hair running down her back.
"No, this looks so ugly," She whispers as she turns to her sides and checked the dress out.
"You look great," I whispered, which made her jump.
"How long have you been there?" She asked as she reached for her blazer.
"Not that long, I just got here," I say as I made my way to the middle of the room.
"Can you help my choose what shoes I should wear?"
Picking up a pair of black and red heels, I curiously look at them before looking at her outfit.
"Black. They go well with the red dress."
"Thank you." She whispered as she bends down at slips on her shoes.
"You okay? You seem nervous." I say as I take a seat next to her.
"Yeah, no, I'm fine." She blurts out, getting up rather quickly.
"No, you're not...you won't even stay still? This isn't like you?"
"It's a big day, Jackson. I didn't think this day would come until I was at least 35, and I'm 7 years from that."
"Hey, you are a great doctor. They would be fools to say no to you." I say as I grab her shoulders.
Looking into her eyes, there was something wrong. She didn't look at me the same anymore, not like before.
"Elena, are you ready?" My mother said as she came into the room.
"Yeah, I am."
Walking out of my grasp, she collects her files and paperwork that were sitting on the table.
"I'll see you later?" I asked her.
"Yeah."
"So, we have a lot of work to do.." My mother said before I couldn't hear their voices anymore.
