Don't Let Me Go

I grabbed a blanket in my numb fingers and ran back to him.

His eyes matched the temperature I felt. I gently grasped his arms, the blanket falling to the floor.

"H-h-hold me," I shivered. He smiled. He picked up the blanket and wrapped it around me. He filled the rest of the space with himself, our chests pressed together.

He put his head on mine. His warmth surprised me. How could he have been so warm? My house had no power and we were all freezing. It was the dead of winter for crying out loud!

"Better?" He joked. I shook my head and stood still. "Here." He let go of me and I turned to ice again.

He moved some things off my couch and laid down.

"Lie down next to me," he gestured. I handed him the blanket and lay down, my face facing away from him. He set the blanket down on top of me.

His warm arms wrapped around mine and he squished me against his chest. I smiled. He weaved his legs through mine.

Soon, I was beginning to become warm.

"Thank you," I whispered, exhausted.

His lips brushed my left ear. "Anytime." He softly kissed my neck over and over again.

My hand reached up and pushed him away.

"Niall, please. Not right now. I'm sleeping," I mumbled tiredly.

He breathed out a laugh. "I know, I'm sorry," he apologized. "But you're just so beautiful."

Despite my coldness, I blushed.

"Stop lying," I murmured.

"How could I possibly lie to you? I'm truly, madly, crazy, and deeply in love with you." My blush got hotter. He nestled his head on my shoulder and his fingers pulled away strands of hair from my face.

"I love you, too. More than you know," I whispered. My voice cracked, but I didn't care.

I awkwardly but successfully turned towards him, our chests pressed together again. His eyes were wide and bright.

I wrapped my arms around his waist, and put my head up to his chest.

His arms kept pushing me closer and closer against him.

I looked up at him and smiled.

"What?" he smiled back. My eyes traveled to his lips. What did it feel like to kiss someone?

I looked into his eyes again, which were inches from mine.

"Kiss me," I said aloud. As soon as I said it I wanted to take it back.  His face lost all emotion and I thought he would get up and leave. "Oh, I'm so-"

His lips pressed against mine before my sentence finished. My eyes shut closed.

I let out a small moan of relief and he stopped to laugh in return.

He kept kissing me, not daring to stop, and I wouldn't dare let him go.

Never again.
