From Niall:

any chance I can see you tonight?

To Niall:

It's nearly midnight!

From Niall:

It'll be more romantic then ;)

To Niall:

When?

From Niall:

Look out the window

I put down my phone, smiling lightly. Quickly running over to my window, I saw him standing on the sidewalk two stories down, grinning. He lifted his phone up, and I heard mine buzz from across the room.

From Niall:

Are you afraid of heights?

To Niall:

No way I'm jumping out of that window

From Niall:

I'm not leaving without you, Blake

My mind raced, thinking of all of the ways I could get in trouble.

There's always a million reasons not to do something, I reminded myself.

The roof-jump was a definite no, and if I tried the doors, the alarm would go off, but the window downstairs wasn't a bad idea.

To Niall:

Meet me at the front door

I shoved my phone in my pocket, grabbed some flats, checked my hair, and quietly tiptoed down the stairs. I pulled open the window in the kitchen, leaving it barely open so I could get back in.

I saw Niall idling on the front steps, looking down at his phone. I whistled lightly, making his head turn in my direction. His smile had never been bigger, and he picked me up in a hug.

"I've missed you," he chuckled into my hair.

"Ditto," I smiled, kissing his cheek. The subject on real kissing hadn't been talked about yet. I was a little disappointed, but I was happy if he was.

"Ready?" he asked me. I nodded, feeling him take my hand. We ran off down the sidewalk, laughing to ourselves.

I lived near a huge lake, and Niall lived only a few minutes away. We went down to the boardwalk and beach a lot since it was summer.

We walked past all the closed stores, finding one ice cream shop and spending an hour talking and laughing there.

Our paths were lit by the full moon, and we stood on the pier overlooking the giant lake. It almost looked like the ocean, and I loved it.

"Do you ever think about what would happen if you had made a different decision?" Niall suddenly spoke up. I turned to glance at him as a lone seagull cried in the distance.

"What do you mean?" I wondered, a little confused. He shifted anxiously, like he had been thinking about it hard.

"Like, if I hadn't asked you out, would I still be a jerk? Would you still be hanging out with Jim? I feel like one little decision could change the whole world," he explained, shrugging afterwards. "I don't know," he mumbled, stepping away. I caressed his face briefly.

"I get it. You feel like you want to make the right decisions so you turn out in the right world, yeah? You don't want some ignorance to stand in the way of your happiness," I elaborated further. His eyes bore into mine for a few seconds.
