Eventually, I ran out of fuel, flopping down on a random bench in the middle of New York City, continuing to bawl my eyes out.
"Angela!" I heard Niall call. I looked up to see him running towards me. I didn't feel like running anymore, so I just covered my face again.
"Hey. Are you okay?" he wondered. I laughed humorlessly.
"How could I be okay?" I asked, putting not emotion into it.
"I'm so sorry. Can you forgive me?" I wiped my eyes once, feeling angry instead of sad.
"No, Niall," I sighed, looking at him. "You went too far this time," I spat, watching him flinch.
"Angela-" he started. I groaned.
"Just give up, already," I growled. "It's over," I shrugged, standing up and trudging underground to the subway.
I rode home, wanting to forget I had ever met him.

"Angela!" I heard from the crowd somewhere. I turned to look, stopping in my tracks. A few people bumped into me, but that's what I got for stopping in the middle of a crowded sidewalk in New York City.
When Niall's face emerged from the crowd, I was strangely happy to see him. He pulled me into a hug, chucking happily.
"It's been five years," I smiled, trying to remember what his ring on my finger felt like.
"Do you wanna grab a coffee? I've got some time to kill," he grinned, lifting a shoulder. I agreed.
We caught up, and I felt nostalgic, remembering how much I had loved him.
As we were about to part ways, he spoke my name once more.
"I know it's a far-stretch, but I want to try again," he sighed, looking vulnerable.
I thought about rejecting him, but everyone deserves a second chance, right?
"You read my mind."
