My alarm beeped at me, and I groaned, trying to turn it off. I grabbed my phone, glancing at how much more time I had to sleep. I blinked a few times, thinking that maybe I was dreaming.
The clock said 12:00. I furrowed my eyebrows, rubbing my drowsy eyes.
Suddenly, the lights came on, and I heard an enthusiastic, "Happy Birthday!" I knew the voice, and I only continued to think I was dreaming.
I looked over in my desk chair to see Niall standing up to walk over to me. I flopped back into bed, thinking I had to be dreaming. Niall was on tour.
"Jenna," he cooed, shaking my shoulder lightly.
"No," I moaned, squeezing my eyes shut. "You're not real," I yelled into my pillow.
"I'm real, babe," he chuckled, running his hand down my arm to try to take my hand.
"Get out!" I exclaimed, not appreciating this dream-Niall making me feel so tingly inside.
"Jen-" he started.
"I said get out," I groaned, not wanting my stupid dreams to torture me any longer. I heard his hesitant footsteps begin to walk away and then his voice.
"I'll be making breakfast," he sighed, shutting the door. After another minute, I decided I wasn't dreaming, and I got really excited.
I got dressed in something acceptable, still tired but very awake at the same time.
I walked into the kitchen, seeing him making pancakes at the stove. A vase full of flowers was at the table, and a few small presents adorned the space around it.
I walked up behind him, trying to repress my huge grin. I wrapped my arms around his waist, glancing out the window above the sink at New York City, brightly lit.
"Hey. I'm sorry," I mumbled into his ear. He slid three pancakes onto a plate, handing them to me.
"You're always grumpy in the morning," he shrugged, kissing my lips gently and briefly. I beamed at him, taking the plate to the table and setting it in front of his seat. He came over with more, and we started eating.
"I'm really glad you're here," I spoke suddenly while we were eating in silence. He stopped and looked up at me.
"I love you, too," he smirked after a few seconds. I snickered, getting up to take our plates into the kitchen.
All of a sudden, the lights flickered off.
"Very funny, Ni," I called to him.
"Did you turn the lights off?" I heard him ask from the table. I furrowed my eyebrows to myself, turning the water off and looking up. It was dark outside, and that seemed normal at first. I did a double-take, seeing a few hundred lights blink out from the skyscrapers riddling the land out of the window.
"It's a black-out," I shouted, taking my phone out of my pocket. I started walking, using the flashlight to find my way and Niall.
"Let's sit on the couch," he suggested, taking my free hand. We walked to the couch in my living room.
We plopped down, him first and me second, and I kind of say on top of him on accident.
"Sorry," I blushed to myself, getting off of him. He chuckled, still holding my hand.
"How's the tour?" I asked, thinking of the numerous tweets he sent out about how great it all was.
"Amazing. I can't even begin to describe how unbelievable all of it is," he breathed out, rubbing his thumb against the back of my hand.
"I'm so proud of you," I smiled, leaning onto his shoulder.
"I wish I could take you with me," he sighed, making me lift up my head and try to look into his eyes. I felt his breath on my nose.
"Me too," I giggled, feeling his hand come to rest on my waist. I felt his lips fit onto mine, making both of us smile. He pulled me closer to him, and I willingly accepted, wanting nothing more than just to be near him.
The lights flickered back on, and we let go. I grinned at him, watching him do the same.
"And you can open the presents on the counter, but I'll just let you know right now, nothing can beat this gift," he shrugged, pulling a plane ticket out of his pocket. I furrowed my eyebrows, smiling nonetheless.
"A ticket?" I wondered. He separated them from each other, revealing a second one. My eyes widened.
"You and me. On a plane. One hour," he explained, trying to hide his giant smile.
"I'm going on tour with you?" I asked lowly, not believing it. Maybe I was still dreaming.
"You're going on tour with me!" he exclaimed, bringing me in for a hug. And nothing could ever beat the experience I had with him.
