N I A L L
I picked up my coffee from the counter, choosing to sit towards the back of the café so I didn't get seen through the windows and mobbed. The sun was beginning to set over New York City, and I liked it a lot there. But I liked it even more when this next little thing happened.
I sat down and sipped on my coffee, typing out a tweet about loving the city. Suddenly, I hear the screams of fans in the distance and feel myself tense up. A girl ran in who looked vaguely familar, but her panic sent my recognition into confusion. She fled to the bathroom while I stood clueless.
I watched the horde of girls run by and nodded, understanding and ducking down to avoid being seen. When they passed, I walked to the one-person bathroom, knocking gently on the door. It slowly swung open to reveal one of my favorite singers, Rose (Y/L/N). I beamed at her.
"Are they gone?" she whispered to me, sitting on the toilet with the seat down.
"Yeah," I smiled as she stepped out of the bathroom.
"I'm Rose," she said, shaking my hand. I chuckled.
"I know," I spoke, smiling again at her. She was much prettier in real life. I watched her sit down at the table I had been at only a few minutes previously.
She peeked towards the windows, looking back to me afterwards.
"Are they gone?" she wondered, whispering humorously. I couldn't hold back my smile.
"Yeah. They ran past just a minute ago," I explained, sipping some more of my coffee. I went to throw it away, but she grabbed my arm.
"Can I have that? I don't want to waste it," she asked. I nodded, handing it to her.
"I walked down the street and all of a sudden they were forming a mob behind me." I looked at her, thinking of the hundreds of times that had happened to me.
"We have that much in common," I sighed, eliciting a small laugh from her. We made some small talk before I finally realized the time. It was getting late.
"I'd better get going," I said, standing up and brushing off my jeans.
"Yeah," she agreed, meeting my height.
"I mean, I'd like to do this again. I mean," I stumbled idiotically. "I like what we have in common, and I like the way you explain things, and you're pretty-" She cut off my rambling, and I was grateful.
"Is that just a long-worded way of asking for my number?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
My confidence faltered for a few seconds as I subjected myself to her beauty and poise and kindness.
"What if it was?" I teased, eyeing her and attempting not to laugh.
"I would love it," she smiled, making my heart soar.
And it was the first time of millions of times following.
