My luck with dating had been zero, so I did what any normal person would do; I used online dating.

This guy, Niall, lived nearby, he liked a lot of the same things I did, and he was cute.

He told me to meet him at a restaurant for dinner. I did so, asking the lady at the front desk if Niall had shown up.

"Oh, yes," she smiled. "Right this way." She lead me through a door and outside again to a surplus of tables arranged on a large patio with twinkling lights swaying in the wind between pillars.

I let out a small gasp of wonderment, grinning to myself. I looked at the table we had stopped at, meeting Niall's eyes. He was much more attractive in person, and I found myself in awe of him, too.

"Hello," he beamed, shaking my hand. I blinked, suddenly feeling nervous.

"Hey," I exhaled, watching as he pulled out my chair for me. I quickly sat down, pinching my dress under the table (pic to the side).

We talked for a while, ordering when necessary. I found his way of words so smooth and simple, and so I felt it overly welcoming to talk to him.

When we had finished our food, we continued to get to know each other, laughing and smiling endlessly.

When the night was over, I felt upset; I didn't ever want it to end.

"I had a great time," he sighed happily as we walked back to my car. I smiled over at him, feeling something hit my shoulder. Bird poop?

I looked up into the pitch black sky, confused when more and more began to fall. Rain.

"Great," he chuckled, starting to run for cover.

"Where are you going?" I asked, still standing in the middle of the empty street as the rain began to come down harder.

"Well-" he started, shrugging.

"C'mon," I beamed, blinking away raindrops from my eyelashes and holding out my hand. A clap of thunder sounded off, lightning lighting up the sky.

He slid his hand into mine, and I pulled him to me, beginning to spin around. We spun in a circle until I couldn't see, partially from dizziness and partially from the rain.

I laughed, tilting my head to face the downpour.

"You're crazy," he laughed, grinning at me.

"I know," I retorted, beaming. He rolled his eyes, taking my hand once again. He pulled me under the lip of some closed shop with the front light still on.

"You look like you've been crying," he spoke, making me rub under my eyes.

"Does it look bad?" I wondered, the light mood kind of ruined. His thumb came and rubbed away my runaway makeup.

"There," he smiled, blinking as his hair dripped in his face. I watched him lean over and kiss my forehead, making me feel tingly.

"You're so pretty when you cry," he whispered, thinking I couldn't hear him. I bit my lip as we got to my car.

"When can I see you next?" I wondered, taking the initiative as I sat down and soaked my car seat.

"Meet me here the next time it rains," he smirked, walking away into the mist of the downpour.
