Algebra (Request)

We all headed outside. It was a nice summer day, and the teacher thought it would be nice to get some fresh air.

I set my blanket down, and my partner sat on my right. I didn't normally talk to her, but she was nice. We started on our algebra assignment. I couldn't understand the problem I was on, and I didn't want to say anything to her. We worked in deafening silence while all the other groups laughed around us.

After a few minutes of staring at my paper, I finally gave in.

Sighing, I said, "I don't get this at all." Just as I looked up at her, a shadow blocked out my sunlight.

I looked up to find Niall standing there. My heart started racing, and I smiled briefly.

"Oh. Hey, Niall," I said nonchantlantly. Someone called my partner's name and she stood up to walk away.

"Need some help?" he asked. I nodded quickly and chuckled. I bit my lip as he sat down in her place, to my right. He was closer than ever before.

"So, what problem are you on..." He searched my paper as the sunlight hit him perfectly.

"Ah. Number 2. So," he looked at me, and I looked at my paper.

He started to explain it. I understood, finally. I did one problem and showed him.

"Did I get it?" I asked. He frowned and so did I.

"No, this is all wrong," he said. My heart dropped. Why was I so stupid? Was it because I was nervous?

I watched him change things in the corner of my eye, but looked over when he started to erase my last name.

"What are you doing?" I asked. He finished erasing and spelled it out plainly.

"It's supposed to be Horan," he said. I stared at my paper in disbelief, my name right there.

Melissa Horan.

We both looked at each other.

I pressed my lips to his and he greeted them immeadiately. His hand found mine and goosebumps lined my arms.

When I let go, he smiled and I blushed.

"I was hoping that would work," he breathed on my lips.
