It was the day. The day I would tell how Niall how I really felt. Yes, we were close, but as close as we could be.
I ran down the hall, knowing he would comply to the message I had left in his locker. I told him to wait for me there, and that I would meet him right before lunch.
I rounded the corner, smiling as I saw him standing there. He looked up from his phone, glancing at me. He quickly looked away like I wasn't there to change my life.
"Hey," I sighed, slowing down. He looked up once more, grinning at me. That lifted my spirits a little, but he didn't look like he knew what was happening.
"Did you get my, uh. . ." I trailed off, seeing him put away his phone.
"Your?" he prompted, chuckling to himself.
"My note," I shrugged, gesturing to his locker. He shook his head.
"Hey, but while I have you here, I have something to tell you," he beamed. I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Sure." He nodded, crossing his arms over his chest.
"My friend really likes you, and he wants to know if you'll go on a date with him tonight," he beamed. I felt my jaw drop, also confused by why he was so happy about it.
"Me?" I breathed out, surprised. He nodded eagerly, chuckling happily.
"Is that a yes?" he wondered, making me exhale sharply in thought.
"I mean, I guess so," I shrugged, feeling the excitement rise in me. I was just happy someone liked me enough to ask me out.
"Perfect! Then it's a date!" he exclaimed, pulling me into a hug. I laughed against him, blushing at his closeness.
"You probably need to tell me who it is," I shrugged when he let me go. He snorted, looking down.
"That would be good," he agreed, making me smile. I was antsy to know who it was, chewing on my lip.
"It's me," he grinned. I chuckled.
"What?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.
"You heard me," he shrugged, a tint of pink rising to his cheeks. I opened my mouth to speak, but no words came out. "I guess, by saying my friend, I meant myself." I continued to stare at him, waiting for him to make my dreams come true.
"I like you," he smiled, shrugging bashfully. I clamped my mouth shut, suppressing my smile.
"Then I guess you'll like it when I do this," I told him, taking a step closer.
"What are-" I stood on my tiptoes and kissed him, feeling my heartbeat faster and faster until I couldn't breathe and had to let go.
"My friend really liked that," he breathed out, biting his lip. I nodded, grinning at him.
I had a date.
