A Night to Remember

I slid my dress on. It was a red strapless with a sweetheart neckline and black heels. I pulled half of my hair up and let the rest of my blonde hair roll down my back.

There was some annual dance in town where they invite a really famous person to come and dance with everyone. It sounded fun, and who knew? It could've been Channing Tatum or Johnny Depp. I didn't know because it was a surprise.

It was a pretty formal thing, hence the fancier dress. I grabbed my clutch purse and checked my hair and makeup. Where it was taking place was an old theater that they cleared out and re-did, and it was only a block down from my house. I locked the door behind me, and started walking. My heels were pretty new, so I stopped and took them off after half a block.

My mind started going again. They probably didn't even get someone famous. It's probably some guy in a Santa costume. I rolled my eyes and arrived a minute later, sliding my heels back on.

I stepped inside after I showed some lady my I.D. It looked a lot smaller on the outside. There was a small stage in front, tables surrounding the dance floor, and probably ten tables of food. It was huge.

I didn't know anyone in this town yet, so I took some fruit punch and stood around waiting for it to start. At five o'clock on the dot, a man got up onstage and I put my glass down to clap.

"Thank you all for joining us. Also a huge thank you to Modest Management for making this possible." I stopped for a second. That name sounded familiar. I couldn't place it, but I kept clapping.

"And our special guest is..." The crowd was silent as I kept thinking. Who is it? Modest...Management. Management. WAIT.

"Niall Horan!" My heart stopped. How could I not have known?! He ran onstage and all the memories came back. One Direction. Instagram. All those years fantasizing about meeting him and he's. Right. There.

I couldn't clap, scream, or anything. I just had to calm down.

Him and the guy shook hands. He handed Niall the microphone.

"Hello everybody. It's so great to be here, and I think I'm going to have loads of fun." I smiled.

The other guy started talking again. "And this guy is still single? C'mon ladies!" I inhaled unevenly and smiled. Niall blushed and got offstage, walking down into the crowd. Since everyone there was 18 or over, I hoped he wasn't getting mauled.

"One more thing," the guy onstage said. I wanted him to shut up so I could think. "Niall chooses who he dances with. No girls will jumping up on him." I heard Niall laugh all the way from where I was standing.

Music started playing. A One Direction song. Figures. All the girls around him started dancing. I watched because there was way too many people. I sighed. I was never gonna get to dance with him. I turned to leave and a little old lady complimented me on my dress. I tried to move away after that, but she asked me where I was from and I was trapped.

The song ended as she stopped talking, and I sighed gratefully. Just as I was about to walk out the door, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned.

"(Y/N)?" He asked and smiled.

"Yeah, hi. Do I know you?" I asked.

"Liam? Eighth grade? You told me you liked me after you left?" He put an emphasis on the after.

"Oh," I blushed. I emailed him because I had a crush on him. I moved three states away a few hours later."Hi!" I pulled him into a hug. I was about to ask him why he was here, but he took my hand as a slow song came on. Another One Direction song. What was the name of it again?
