Shane packs his bag on top of his bed while I lay on mine and watch him. His every movement and action while he packs is so interesting to watch. I used to watch him a lot when I first met him. I always thought he would end up being an enemy, and I like knowing how my enemies move and work. He is delacate, yet fierce, with flames in his eyes that show his full determination. I hear a small knock on the door and start to get up from my bed, but Shane had already answered it.
"Oh, hello Mark." Shane says happily as he pushes the door completely open and he returns to packing.
"What are you doing?" Mark questions while watching Shane place all of his items back into his suitcase.
"He's packing his bag because he's leaving tomorrow." I explain in a hushed voice. Just because I'm allowing it to happen, doesn't mean I'm happy with it. Shane just tried to convince me to let him go, but I still have worries deep inside me about all this.
"Why is he leaving?" Mark asks, more consusiok this time.
"My compound has been taken again, and I'm going to take it back." Shane announces as he neatly folds his ties and places them in the suitcase next to a few others.
"Shouldn't we all go then? I mean, that place is home to all of us." Mark states, while crossing his arms.
"I know that, but it won't be your home if I don't own it. I will lose all power I previously had if I don't get it back now. It won't be long before this maniac starts telling everyone he knows that he owns my compound. And if some of my colleagues find out that I've lost my power, I'll have to start all over again." Shane states while crossing his arms. Mark looks at me and walks into our room and rests his hand on the wall.
"So you're just gonna go and... What are we supposed to do while you're gone? That dude, Allan, obviously has some anger issues, and I bet he's gonna be pretty pissy when he finds out you're gone." Mark explains, while changing his position so that he leans with his back against the wall instead of his hand.
"I know, and I'll handle that. If I ask him to tell Violet all important information, he will, and she can contact me on my com if necessary. I'll only be gone to reclaim my compound and then I'll be back and get you all to take you back home." Shane tells Mark sternly.
"Will you need help getting it back? You might need to being some backup." Mark states.
"Yes, that is why I plan to bring some forces from this district. This district specializes in military, and I doubt it would be a problem to lend a few men to me." Shane states while signing heavily. Mark nods and then glances at me.
"And Violet is okay with all this?" Mark asks, just as I knew he would. Shane sighs and glances at me before he answers.
"Not exactly, but my safety isn't her problem." Shane says in a more hsuhed voice.
"That doesn't mean I won't be worrying about you..." I reply in a hsuhed voice.
"I already told you my reasons, Violet and I will not change my mind because you're worrying. Me owning the compound is more important than anything else. Because if I don't own it, none of us live anywhere, and we've all lost all power we previously had." Shane speaks louder now, probably to shut me up. I glance at Mark and meet his gaze for a moment before I turn my eyes away.
"Can I talk to you privately, Shane?" Mark asks.
"Of course. Violet, can you tell Maddie and Emmet my plans?" Shane questions me, back in that sweet sounding tone he sometimes puts on for me.
"Yeah." I answer as I exit the room and close the door behind me.

~*Marks POV*~

"Listen, I know you have good intentions and that you owning the compound is important. But, Violet is my girlfriend and she is the most important person in my life. I know that you weren't close to Jack like we were... But losing him was a big thing, and Violet of all people felt it the most, and she hasn't healed yet. Just yesterday she fell asleep and woke up screaming his name. So, if you won't do this for her, stay here as a favor for me. She doesn't need to worry right now, and even if she won't admit it, she needs you." I say. Shane's eyes go softer than they normally are and he nods slowly.
"Okay. I'll stay as long as I can, but if things worsen at my compound, I'm leaving and taking it back." Shane tells me as he closes his suitcase and begins walking past me, towards the exit of the room.
"Thanks, Shane. I mean it, you're a good guy." I say before he can leave. Shane stops and takes in a breath before he continues with three small words escaping his lips.
"But you're better." Are the last words he says as he leaves the room and closes the door behind him.
"But I'm not." I mumble to myself as I follow in his footsteps and leave the room.
