~*Jacks POV*~
I suddenly recognize the voice at the top of the wall. It's Ian. He tortured us for weeks, starved us, he only fed us a few times a week. It was awful, and I thought that it was finally over when we were rescued. However, that was just me thinking, and now I'm back to reality.
"Identify yourself! No unauthorized members are allowed to roam free in this compound. So let us in, we have direct orders from Shane, he owns this compound and I'm sure you know that. Now, open the door or be prepared to face the consequences!" Duncan shouts. Violet looks up at me and has a look in her eyes that shows me that I think she knows. She knows Ian is up there and she knows what he's capable of.
"Do I really need to say my name? Two of your little friends know me pretty well. Don't you Jack? And Violet? You both know me, right? You didn't forget about me, right?" Ian laughs while he speaks and I can see the rifles at the top all turn towards us.
"Stop playing games Ian! Stop being a dick and let us inside!" Violet snaps at him and shouts up at him, but even though her words are string, her eyes show her fear.
"There's my name, good job. I should give you a reward, like one that you gave me. Locking me up... I'll have to think of something to be equal to that. Come on up, I want to talk to you anyways." Ian says with a child like laugh following it. Suddenly the door creaks it's way open and Duncan leads the way while we enter. Violet goes to my arm and holds onto it tightly. I can't help myself from shaking lightly, my fears are coming back after all.
"Hey guys. How've you been?" Ian says cheerfully. I then see him jump off the last few rings on the ladder and stand a few feet in front of us. Wendy stands right next to Duncan with her hand placed firmly on a pistol at her side. She's a smart one, and I can feel Violet grabbing at one of my back pockets. She takes out one of my throwing knives and holds it behind me.
"Identify yourself." Duncan demands, stopping in front of Ian.
"You didn't hear them? Oh, well, I should be polite. I'm Ian, and don't worry, I already know who you are." He says, smiling almost ear to ear. He scares me, but he annoys me more. He's gotten crazier in that jail cell, and that is not something we want, especially with him.
"We need to speak with Shane Lancaster. Either let us pass or being him here." Wendy says, steeping up as the leader now. I don't think Duncan realizes who this criminal is, but she seems to be taking care of it.
"Shane? He was just here, but now, he's somewhere far, far away." Ian begins laughing hysterically at his previous sentence.
"Where is he?" Wendy demands, breaking his train of crazy.
"That's not important, what's more important, is how will I pay you guys back? You locked me up, and tried to take my little Maddie away from me. That made my head hurt a lot, being alone can do that to you. But, Violet..." He pauses and stares right at her, before moving his gaze to meet mine. With that he laughs and takes in a deep breath. "Do you know how it feels to be completely alone?" He asks, his eyes trailing back down to Violet, which makes me nervous.
"Yeah. What of it?" She snaps, gripping my arm tightly when she speaks. I can't tell if it's out if anger or fear, but it could be both.
"Well, it certainly isn't that way now, is it?" Ian asks, his eyes going in between us, making him look even more insane. I avoid looking at his eyes, it begins annoying me after a while.
"Shut it Ian!" Violet shouts, grabbing my arm strongly.
"Oh, getting feisty now, are we?" Ian taunts, his grin sticking to his face as if it's glued on.
"I said, shut up!" Violet shouts, and I feel her arm go to throw the knife, but I stop her and grab her hand. I look down at her and shake my head, mouthing the word 'no'. Ian laughs and pulls a gun from his side and points it as Violet.
"So, we should play a game now. This gun has 3 bullets, so let's play a little roulette. Now, who am I starting with?" He says, spinning the barrel around as if it was simply a toy. I push Violet so she is mostly behind me and put myself in the way. She struggles to fight me, but I'm stronger and keep her in her place.
"Me." I demand, looking him strait in the eye now. Ian laughs and nods, finally stopping his child like spinning.
"Alright. Let's start with you." Ian says. He points the barrel right at my head, and smiles as he puts his finger on the trigger.
"Jack!" Violet calls my name and all I can do is push her away from me.
"Don't do this now." I snap, slightly turning my head to see her. She has a look of concern on her face and she bolts at me again, but this time Wendy catches her and holds her in place.
"Are you ready to play now, Jack?" Ian questions, his eyes smiling even more than his actual one.
"Just between us, right, Ian?" I ask. I need to make sure she's safe, safe from him. I'm not letting him hurt her, and if he tries, he'll go through me and everything I've got first.
"Yeah. Just us." Ian smirks and once again has the gun at my head. I keep my eyes wide open, if I do die here, I'm not dying as a weakling. I'm going to look him in the eye, so that he can remember how he killed me. His finger on the trigger almost looks eerie, but I'm not scared, not if I'm saving Violet. Ian smiles as he finally pulls the trigger. Click. No bullet, I'm not dead this time then. Ian shrugs and holds the gun out for me to grab. I take it and sigh, he really is going to play this then. How pathetic. I almost copy Ian's actions, and point the gun at his head. He smiles at me, but that doesn't matter. If I do kill him here, I'm not regretting it. He tortured me and all my friends, and he kidnapped my girlfriend. He's scum on this Earth, and I wouldn't even shed a tear if he died, especially by my hand. Without another thought I pull the trigger. Click. Another empty, how weird. Maybe there is no bullets in this gun, it's just a waste of time. Ian does love games, and this type of thing is definitely his. I nod and sigh as I hold out the gun for him to take for his "turn". How lame is this, I can't believe he's doing this right now. Ian smirks at me and does as he did before and points the gun at my skull, looks like my forehead. As I did before, I keep my eyes open and only glance to my left where Violet stares at me. She still looks concerned and her eyes are locked on me.
"Don't you die on me..." She whispers as a tear slides down her cheek and slips off her chin to the ground. I nod to her, as if responding that I promise I won't. If Ian is doing what I think he is, then this game won't end in any death. Ian shuffles his fingers around the trigger until he finally shoots. Bang. All I feel is a quick pain and then my body going completely limp as I fall to the floor.
