"First, we have to go visit my house. I kinda went off randomly to go get you, but... We both know how that turned out. But these guys will just want to see that you're alive, and that I'm back." Mark tells me now that we are inside the compound. He was told to take me back to the mansion and watch over me by Shane, right before he walked off.
"Why would they want to see me?" I ask curiously, glancing at Mark as he leads me down the sidewalk.
"Shane told you, didn't he? That Josh made you forget me, you also forgot them." Mark tells me, glancing at me with an almost sad look on his face.
"I... I don't know what to believe right now. I trust Shane, but I really don't know you... I really am sorry if I just forgot about you, Mark. You seem like a good guy, and if this is hard for you, I'm sorry." I tell him sincerely, glancing at him while I speak.
"Yeah... It doesn't seem real almost." Mark replies while shaking his head lightly. I follow Mark to a small house that is near where Jack used to live, its even on the same street. But the turn Mark makes is sooner than the one I would normally make to step up to Jack's cozy home. Mark glances at me and shrugs as he stops in front of the steps to the home.
"You have a key to this house. I think you kept it in your back pocket." Mark tells me. I put my hands in my back pockets as he informed me and find a small, silver key inside.
"Is this it?" I ask, holding it out to him if it was the key he was looking for.
"Yeah, that's it. Maybe that will give you a little proof that you know me." Mark suggests with a small shrug.
"Yeah... I just don't remember any of it." I tell him while I rub my thumb over he key.
"That's the sad part of it." Mark replies with a heavy sigh. I nod slowly and grab his hand, placing the key into it.
"Well, here's the key to your house." I say with a small smile.
"It's actually your house. You lived here before any of us, and gave it to Jack. Then, Jack moved out and we just stayed here. But, we all agreed that this house is yours and yours alone if you wish it." Mark tells Me as he pushes the key back into my hand and closes my fingers around it. I look up at Mark into his chocolate brown eyes, and somehow see something familiar.
"You have pretty eyes." I comment in a slight mumble. Mark smiles and kisses my hand softly. It sends chills up my spine and a smile to my face.
"You've told me before..." He whispers as he gives me a small wink. I blush softly at his words and smile at him while he gently releases my hand back to my side. Mark smiles at the ground as he walks up the steps to the home. I follow his lead and Mark lightly knocks on the door before he pushes open the front door and walks in.
"I'm back!" Mark shouts lazily through the house as he enters. I follow through the door and look around lazily.
"Mark?" I hear a voice call from inside. I glance around the home and see two tall men come towards the door.
"And Violet." One of them says with a smile.
"Hey, kid." The other one says with a smile.
"Hey, guys. So, Violet, do you remember either of these guys?" Mark asks me, glancing at both the men, but leaving his focus on me.
"Not really... Its foggy." I reply, looking over each of their faces carefully. However, no matter how hard I stare, I don't know them.
"Well, this is Wade." Mark says, gesturing towards the man who has greeted me moments ago.
"And this is Bob." Mark tells me, pointing towards the other man with a sigh.
"Nice to meet you, Wade and Bob." I say, putting on a soft smile and giving a small wave. They both give me a confused look and then look to Mark for answers.
"Josh put her on a lot of bad shit, and it made her forget a lot of stuff. Shane went to go hunt him down." Mark explains briefly. Both the guys nod slowly and glance at me.
"Are you okay?" Bob asks me in a concerned tone. I nod slowly and put my hands behind my back casually.
"Yeah, other than my memory, I'm fine." I tell them with a soft smile. Wade nods and sighs as he turns his head back to Mark. They both hug him softly and whisper things in one another's ears that I can't hear. I lazily walk around the home and see what looks like a living room. There is a windowsill that is big enough for someone to sit in, and a view out of it that seems to familiar to me, but I can't place it. I lightly place my hand on the couch that when I actually look at it, I realize there are blood stains and small dirt spots on it. I gasp softly and take my hand off it.
"Jack was there..." I whisper, covering my mouth with the back of my hand.
"I promised him there..." I mumble to myself with my wide eyes staring down at the couch.
"What's wrong?" Mark asks me as his hand lightly brushes my arm.
"Jack... Was there. His body was there, on that couch." I respond in a hushed voice. Mark nods and lightly pulls me back from the couch and towards him.
"Yeah, Wade was tortured here and you untied him and brought Jack with you. When we left for District 6 you left his body here." Mark tells me, his hand lightly massages my shoulder.
"I saw him... Josh brought me here because I had to make my promise to him... I had to say goodbye." I mumble with my eyes fixed on the couch.
"Yeah. When we got back, Shane got hi body and sent it to a place to get him fixed up for his funeral." Mark tells me with a heavy sigh. I shake my head lightly.
"No..." I reply, shaking my head harder.
"What?" Mark asks me calmly. I shake my head and turn around to face him.
"No... I want Jack cremated so that I can keep him at Shane's mansion." I demand while shaking my head hard. Mark nods softly and gently caresses my hand.
"Okay. We'll get that taken care of." Mark tells me, which somehow calms me down almost instantly.
"Thank you... I'm sorry if I'm demanding, I just don't want-" Mark shakes his head softly and puts a finger to my lips to quiet me.
"I'll take care of it." He replies.
