Josh stands on the outer side of the wall with Shane holding my arm on the inside.
"Let me start." Shane whispers in my ear. His eyes stare at me, but his face pints towards Josh, like any polite person does.
"Violet, its good to see that you're safe." Josh comments with a deep exhale.
"I would never hurt Violet, or anyone that I care about. I'm not sure if you can say the same, Joshua." Shane states as he slowly drags me back so I stand just slightly behind him.
"Violet and I are close childhood friends, everything I did was for her." Josh says, eyeing me intently.
"I thought you were dead for the past 15 years, I can't really say that we're close." I state coldly, grasping onto Shane's arm slightly.
"You can't deny that I've done everything for you, because I have. That's why I came all this way to find you." Josh states.
"I have no doubt that you love her, but people that you care about have a tendency to die, and I simply do not wish for my wife to be subjected to that fate." Shane replies for me.
"That also has been bugging me since I heard about it... Why did you have to marry the one woman I wanted, Shane?" Josh questions.
"Violet was actually the one who asked me." Shane states. "I simply agreed." He adds, crossing his arms around me.
"But did she do it out of love? Or was it just another business deal like most of your relationships?" Josh questions in annoyance.
"Are you accusing me of something, Joshua?" Shane questions, his business tone slowly turning more angry.
"No. I'm smart enough to know when to accuse you, its when I have all the evidence of what you've done. Just like I should have waited to tell people about Angie." Josh states, getting more bitter by the minute.
"Don't you dare say her name after what you did to her." Shane spits, his business tone completely vanishing.
"And what exactly do I do to her? Was it me who let her to play outside when zombies were walking the streets? I don't think that was me, Shane, that was you." Josh says plainly. Shane attempts to storm towards Josh, but I grab his arm and pull Jim back towards me.
"Don't do it, Shane. You'll regret it if you do." I whisper as he finally stops and goes back towards me.
"Fine..." He whispers. "But you have no right of speaking about my daughter." Shane speaks loudly and angrily, in a way that I had never heard before. Josh chuckles and shakes his head.
"Your daughter... That's a good joke. Like you were ever there for her when she needed you." Josh yells back.
"At least it wasn't me who killed her! Where were you when our daughter was dying? Huh? Where were you? You certainly were not calling every doctor in the country to find a solution like I was. Where were you, Joshua? Oh, that's right. You were looking for someone who never even wanted you in the first place!" Shane shouts at him.
"She was already dead, Shane! She was dead when I left! The light was gone from her eyes. You were trying to save someone who had already gone. I was trying to find someone who at least was still alive." Josh replies angrily.
"Angie was alive, you just wanted to leave her so bad, and you believed that it would be easier thinking she was dead instead if facing the truth. The truth that you did nothing to save her, and you just ran away!" Shane screams again and tries to walk towards him, and I still hold him back.
"Oh, Shane, I think I was wrong about what I thought so long ago. I always thought you were heartless and simply were not able to love... But you loved that girl, and when she died she broke your heart. You don't love Violet, not like I do anyways, and you never will because you don't want to be hurt again! You are so selfish, Shane, so much so that you can't even give me the one thing I've always wanted." Josh shouts back. I step forward and make sure that Shane stays fat behind me.
"I'll go with you if that's what you want." I state.
"Good, then it's settled." Josh states while he stretches out his hand for me to take. I don't take it however, I keep my arm holding Shane back and my other at my side.
"Not so fast." I say, emotionless.
"What else do you need?" Josh questions me, his voice softening. I turn back towards Shane and kiss his cheek softly.
"I'll always be back." I whisper very quietly as I slowly pull my hand away from his arm.
"You better be." He whispers back. His lips collide with mine for just a moment when he pulls me back. I widen my eyes when he does so and I simply continue pulling back on my regular course.
"Take care of them for me." I mouth to him as I turn back to face Josh.
"I don't want to go back to the Main District. You give that back to Shane to own, and don't take anything of his from it. Promise to do that, and I'm yours." I state while I slowly put out my arm like Josh had done for me before.
"Just give that place back to him? That's all you want, Violet?" Josh asks me softly.
"Yes. Just give it back, I don't want to live there after what I've seen happen there. Since I've seen so many of my friends die there, I don't want to live there. Give it to Shane to run, and then I'll go with you." I say again, keeping my hand out for Josh to take.
"Fine. The compound is yours, Shane. You won't be seeing me back there to bother you." Josh states as he grabs my hand and pulls me into him.
