~*Shane's POV*~

"Search the woods with everyone you have, Allan. We have one of the biggest threats crawling around out there and I will not allow him to continue!" I shout at the owner of District 6 who sits at his desk calmly watching me have my breakdown.
"He is a threat to you, Shane, this will not affect me-"
"Yes, it will! How can you not see that? He wants to take my place as owner of the Main District, and it won't be hard if he says the right things. And he is smart enough to say those words. You know he is!" I shout back, completely interrupting the man.
"Maybe its time we have a new owner of that district anyways..." Allan replies as he stands from his desk and stares me down intently.
"He brainwashed my wife, you think that man could be a good leader?" I snap at him, pounding my fist on his desk in complete fury.
"He has resources, more than you obviously. He built all the districts with you, Shane, and you don't seem like the same man you were back then." Allan admits, gently adjusting his tie as he walks calmly around his desk towards me.
"I can't prove you wrong without you seeing what a weasel he is. Joshua has changed, more than I have, and far much more worse than me. In my shoes, with his resources that you seem so excited for, he could erase all of you and start from scratch. He could make all of you forget your families, your place, your power. Most likely he would end up ruling over you all as if you were a mindless drone. Do you really want that, Allan? After all the hard work, and night shifts, and stress, and building that we've done... Do you really just want to throw it against the wall, hoping it will stick the right way?" I ask him sternly while shaking my head in complete dismay. Allan stares at me with his piercing eyes that stay behind the small lenses of his glasses.
"You and I have quite a bit of history, Shane." Allan states as he walks around me slowly.
"Yes, we do." I reply, trying to see what he's getting at.
"Which is why I've trusted you through all this." Allan continues, his hand resting on the side of his desk next to me.
"However, one thing I will not do is change my side." Allan adds, his eyes still looking at me directly.
"Your point is?" I question him, slightly turning my body to face him. Allan sighs and shakes his head.
"I would have thought you'd understand by now. You are very smart, Shane, but not smart enough I suppose." Allan tells me as he walks away from his desk and stands by the window in his office.
"What are you talking about?" I ask him, getting tired of his useless riddles and games.
"Shane, you told me the reason you agreed to give me District 6 was because you trusted me with military access." Allan explains as his fingers gently play with the edges of the window.
"I never understood how you could ever trust me, since it was I who had been friends with Josh for so much longer." Allan adds, glancing at me from the corners of his eyes.
"I trusted you because I thought you were a good man who I could depend on. I also knew you would never use your power only for yourself. You always need a cause to fight for, and I was that cause." I explain lightly, turning once again to face him.
"You were never my cause, Shane." Allan tells me bluntly. He turns away from the window and then at me.
"You were a means to an end." He adds while taking off his glasses and wiping them with a small cloth in his pocket.
"I have been, and always will be, on Josh's side. I allowed him to set up a base on my property, and to come into my compound when the woman he had been searching for arrived." Allan explains as he puts back on his glasses to get a clearer view of me.
"I told you, Shane, I never change sides. And never did I say I was on your side." Allan states sternly. I stare at him in shock and try to keep my jaw from dropping at his sudden news.
"You allowed him to take my wife. You conniving bastard!" I shout as I go towards him with my fist in the air, ready to strike him down.
"Guards! Please take Mr. Lancaster out of this compound, and do not let him back in unless I say so." Allan demands, causing a large soldier to rush inside and pull me away from the businessman who still stands by the window.
"I am sorry, Shane. We do have a lot of history together, but that is all it is between us. History." Allan tells me as I am dragged out of his office.
"Let go of me! Don't you know who I am? I am Shane Lancaster, the owner of the Main District and your home too! Let me go this instant!" I shout at the solider who now drags me away from Allan.
"Oh, they know who you are. You are a man who wants to be a king, but I am the only real King here." Allan states, crossing his arms and giving me a smirk. The guard drags me down the hall and out of Allan's offices entirely.
"Let go of me!" I shout again as I attempt to plant my legs on the floor to stop myself, but it fails to work and I continue sliding across the ground. The solider drags me through the compound towards the main entrance. While he does, I continue to shout at him angrily and even attempt to kick the man, but to no avail. The main entrance doors open with ease and I feel myself get thrown outside of it onto the cold pavement. The impact causes small scrapes on my hands and cheek and even rips one arm of my suit. I lightly dust myself off and stand back up to find the doors closed and guns pointed at me. I feel just as I did before I got up to my power, how pathetic I've become. I can't even go on my own land because of some rich, pompass businessman that I was even tempted to call a friend.
"Fine then..." I mumble to myself as I begin walking away from the walls of District 6.
"If they won't help me, I'll have to go to bigger allies, even if they may take time to get to." I mumble as I begin walking along the same road I came here on back to my true friends.
