~*Shane's POV*~
"Yes I'm serious! Would I really joke about my compound being overtaken?" I shout into my com that I found on the desk in my office.
"I'm sorry Mr. Lancaster. I'll send you some soldiers to help you to defeat this threat. But when the fighting is over, they are returning to 6." The man on the other end of my com states. He is the leader of District 6 and has more military power than any other. Lucky for me, it's also the closest other district in the area, so they will get here before anyone else.
"Thank you, sir. Please make haste, I do not know how long I can keep things steady here." I state into the com before I shove it into my pocket, where it usually is. I walk out of my offices and onto the streets of my compound. Everything looks so broken and tattered right now, and the sight disgusts me. I can't believe that Ian, of all people, would be able to do this. A man under high security, a man I knew and specifically checked on every week was able to take over my home. Unbelievable.
"Hey, Shane." I hear people call for me from behind. I turn to see both Wade and Bob walking the streets behind me. I let out a sigh of relief and nod.
"It's good to that see you both are alright." I state, turning the rest of my body to face them.
"Yeah, you too." Bob comments while they take turns embracing me.
"Have you stabilized the compound yet?" Bob asks, his and Wade's eyes staring at me.
"I've contacted my sources and they'll be here shortly. In the meantime I plan to negotiate with a maniac. If you're interested, you're more than welcome to come along." I state with a nod of authority.
"Of course. We can back you up if something goes wrong." Wade says, his bruised face smiling ever so slightly.
"Thank you. We should head towards the wall anyways, considering that my backup will be arriving soon."
"Alright." Bob replies. We pass military headquarters and are in plain view of the wall.
"Oh, hey Shane! I was hoping I'd see you." Ian laughs as he slides down the ladder and walks up to me with a giant grin on his face.
"I was actually looking for you as well." I state, crossing my arms at him when I stop walking. Ian simply laughs and places his arm on my shoulder as if I was a friendly acquaintance.
"Y'know, Shane, we should play our game. Just you and I. It was so fun playing with your other friend, Jack, was it? Yeah... That was fun." Ian taunts with his laughs echoing through the empty streets of my compound.
"Shut your mouth you fuckin' rat." Wade mumbles angrily.
"Calm down please, Wade." I demand, keeping my eyes locked on Ian the whole time.
"Oh yes, Wade... I remember you. Your screams were always so much louder than the others... And I loved hearing it through my home." Ian drags out every word and laugh he allows to escape his mouth.
"Ian, this isn't about them, this is between us. Leave him alone now, we have business." I tell him, moving my weight between my feet.
"You're right... We should play our game, it's really fun. I'll let you choose the gun and who shoots first... I don't cheat, Shane, it's no fun if I cheat." Ian states, his fingers digging into the skin on my shoulder.
"I'm not playing games with you. I came here to negotiate terms." I have to hold myself from rolling my eyes while I speak.
"Oh, really? Go on, I'm interested now." Ian grins widely at me.
"I have hundreds of soldiers coming, and they'll be here any second. Now, since you've taken what is rightfully mine, I believe that I completely have the right to tell them to kill you. However, I may be able to save you, only for your brother's sake." I state, crossing my arms over my chest. Ian's eyes widens and he takes his hand off me.
"Y'know, my brother is pretty mad at me... Do you think he'll forgive me if I do whatever you want me to? Do you think he'll want me back if I agree to your terms?" Ian asks me in a hopeful and quite childish tone. His questions baffle me, why would he ask me those things? Oh well, either way it's time to play him into my hands.
"Of course. If you become the brother he wants, then I'm sure he'll take you back. However, Kyle wants a good person, a role model, someone he can trust. And now, you're not that person, but you could be." I lie to him, I can tell my eyes are smiling with my words.
"He wants... Me to be good..." Ian mumbles and then begins laughing hysterically.
"But the truth is that I'm not good... If you see him again, tell him that I'm sorry, but I just love doing what I have been." Ian tells me, his eyes wide and full of his psychotic tendencies.
"Ian, you best surrender this place to me. The facts about your brother were simply my kind offerings, but you are giving me this place back. The only difference is that one way is much harder than the other. Now, give me what I want or else you will get much worse than a little prison cell." I demand, staring him down intensely. Ian then begins laughing very hard and himself almost falling over because of it.
"Shoot them, but don't kill them... Not yet... I want to have more fun." Ian shouts towards the wall that stands tall behind him. I glance behind me at both Wade and Bob and then, almost all at once, we rush towards the military headquarters and I push them both ahead of me to the ground. I hear gunshots behind us and bullets scatter around the ground where we had been standing.
"That's not fair, Ian!" I shout at him angrily. No one shoots at me, not without consequences anyway.
"Oh, since when do I play fair? It's my game, and I love winning it." Ian chuckles as his shoes click on the cement while he walks.
"Fine... If I play your game fairly, will you stop? Whoever wins, gets the compound." I state, pushing myself to my feet to stand at the same level as Ian. His eyes widen and he feeds me a confused expression.
"Just a fair game? That's all you want?" He questions me. I nod while I catch my breath from my previous actions.
"Alright, I'll play." Ian agrees with a wide grin.
"Alright." I respond.
