A Quick Chore

In my room, I open my new cupboard that I had to buy to replace my previous one that was ruined by Ian. I look inside and find only two suits that I was able to salvage from everything else of mine that was entirely destroyed. There are three ties inside, two are dark gray and the other is dark magenta. Violet insisted on me wearing it once, and because she was new to my compound, I complied. I smirk to myself softly as I pick up the thin fabric. I pull on the tie I currently wear, my black one, to loosen it and then toss it back inside my cupboard. I unbutton my ripped tailcoat and toss it inside as well and look over my white dress shirt. It seems to be alright, just a small amount of dirt smudged on the bottom of my right sleeve. I can still use it while we travel to the other districts. Perhaps in 10 I can get new clothes, since I was close with Liam and his family. I expect higher hospitality there than any of the other districts, since Rebecca knows me well, just as her father did. I wrap the magenta tie around my neck and tie it easily, as if it was a natural action at this point. I grab one of my other tailcoats from the cupboard and then put it on and button it up, with as much ease as I had with the tie. Then, I grab different shoes that are not scratched like the ones I wear now. I turn towards mirror that sits on the wall of my room. It is smudged and has a few scratches on the edges of it, I had it when Ian destroyed my home after all. However, this mirror is special to me since I had it when Angie was still living in my home. She quite liked the mirror and I had it put in her room, and now it is in my room where I like it to be. I look over my outfit and straighten my tie. I can always seem to tie my tie without even a second glance, but I always end up having to straighten it. No matter how long I've been tying ties, they are always just slightly edged at an angle on my chest. Even if it only a small amount, I always have to straighten it, but that is alright.

~*Violets POV*~

Mark takes me to Maddie's house, which is not where I remember it used to be. She now lives in a small apartment on the edge of town, far away from where I remember her to live. But, my memories seem to be confused so I could be wrong. We knock on a door that Mark told me was to the new home of Maddie. It doesn't take long for a red head man, known as Emmet, opens the door for us with a smile.
"Hey guys, glad you're back." He greets.
"Yeah, its good to see you." I respond, putting on a smile that previously I had almost banned from my face.
"Wait, do I hear my girl at the door?" I hear Maddie shout from inside as she comes running towards the front door.
"Yeah, Violet is here, she's back." Emmet calls back to her as he takes a step aside to let her at me.
"Hey!" She shouts as she pulls me into a right embrace.
"Hey..." I respond as I hug her back and smile looking up at the sky.
"You have to tell me all about what happened to you. Because, moving what little stuff was still okay was hard." Maddie explains. I wrinkle my eyebrows softly, not completely understanding what she means.
"What?" He ask, trying not to seem too rude.
"Oh, you never saw what happened to my house after what Ian did..." She comments.
"Yeah, I never did." I tell her, lightly shaking my head, as if that would make it better.
"Well, he messed it up pretty bad. He did with Shane's mansion too, but he fixed his, and I didn't want to... Since he did so much to me... I didn't want to go back to that house." She explains calmly, while turning her gaze towards the ground.
"Yeah, but your new house is really nice. Emmet and I found it pretty easily." Mark comments, trying to change the mood I'm guessing.
"Well, since Shane gave us the list. He's the real hero around here." Emmet replies as he wraps his arm around Maddie's waist, resting his hand there.
"Especially since he tried to clean our old house... He really is a sweet guy." Maddie smiles softly to herself, leaning her head on Emmet's shoulder.
"I know... He is..." I mumble quietly, trying to keep the smile from my face, but it doesn't seem to work.
"Yeah, well, we have to make this quick, since he wants to leave soon." Mark reminds me.
"What? You're leaving again?" Maddie questions me, her eyes widening. I nod slowly and grab Maddie's hands that she had released into the air in front of me.
"He wants to go visit the other districts with Mark and I." I explain briefly.
"Oh, can we come too?" Emmet questions us.
"Shane wants to keep the group smaller this time." Mark replies for me, giving him the no that he needed.
"Oh... Can I talk to you real quick though? Before you leave?" Maddie asks me, her eyes scanning over my face nervously.
"Yeah... What do you want to talk to me about?" I ask her, gently rubbing my thumb in circles over the edge of her hand.
"Well... I guess I can say it here. But, I really am sorry for what I did to you, Violet. I'm sorry that me being here brought Ian here... And most of all, I'm sorry that he killed the love of your life... The last time I apologized to you, everything wasn't okay, and it still isn't. I just hope you can forgive me this time..." Maddie replies, tears now forming streams down her cheeks and her hands firmly clenched around my own.
"I... I'm sorry too, Maddie... Because I still can't forgive you." I tell her, a tear running down my own cheek. Her grip on me instantly loosens, and I tear my arms away from her as I walk down the steps up to her apartment to go meet Shane.
