We layed low for a few months. I had planned everything out. I showed my new friend the old house I was living in for a while after I left the apartment. We were now staying there. There was a map of the whole city on the wall in the backroom, along with pictures of people who we thought worked with whoever brought me to that stupid...where were we again? That stupid jail place. I don't think I was ever told what it was called... we had at least fifteen people on the board so far...

"Anything yet?" I asked walking up.

"Not yet... what about him?" He said pointing at one of the pictures.

It was of a white guy with black hair.

"He was last seen..." I checked the paper lying on the table underneath the map. "42nd. Alright.

I stepped back, grabbed my knife, and stuffed it in the back of my shorts. Yeah...shorts...I know right. Wow. I never wear shorts...most of my f- well if I had friends, they'd all be like, 'ooh my gawwd. You're wearing shorts!' Then I'd be like 'yeah...I know right.' Since we've been laying low for a few months, I had to change my look. Since it's been months, my hair had faded, and I decided to go back to the usual color I had before I started dying it. Yup...my hair is brown. It's not as cool as the other colors I've had, but, hey! I blend in with the crowd now..........yay..........

"Why are you mumbling to yourself?" Crane asked looking at me.

I looked up from fixing my shirt, and gave him a look, "Because I can. Don't judge man, you should try it. I'm surprised with all the work you do you haven't cracked yet. I mean, being around all those crazies...you're gonna crack at some point. Or have you already?...whoa...I gave myself the chills. Ha!"

He shook his head, and turned back around.

"We're gonna need men," he informed handing me my gun.

I took it, and smiled, "I have men."

I walked out of the house, and made my way down the driveway. Once I got to the car, I hopped in, and drove off. I don't remember exactly where they moved to, but I think I have somewhat of an idea.

About fifteen minutes later, I arrived in front of a grey house with a black roof. I don't know why I thought it was this one...I don't know...maybe it was the mailbox...or the front door...or the giant 'J' on the roof. Might as well have a huge purple and green joker card on the door.

I got out and walked up to the front door. It was a mint green, and had a black and silver spade in the center.

"Awe. That's cute," I said as I knocked.

A few moments later, no one had answered the door. I knocked again, but still got no answer. I was about to kick the door in, when I walked away. Just as I got half way back to the car, I heard a scream. I looked around and saw a woman standing on the other side of the street. She was staring at me, with fear in her eyes.

"I um...are you okay?" I asked.

She shook her head and pointed at the house she was in front of. I looked at the house to see it was glowing orange. Haha, wait a second! It's not glowing. I was engulfed it flames. In the window on the second floor you could see a little girl waving her arms.

Groaning, I ran over to the house and without saying anything, kicked the door in. I was immediately surrounded my flames, and I shook my head.

"Unbelievable," I mumbled. "Hello?!"

I found the stairs, after slowly walking through the living room. Stepping on the first step, I heard something snap. I looked up to see a piece of the ceiling about to fall.

"You gotta be kidding me!" I yelled.

After five seconds of staring at it, I decided to run up the steps like my life depended on it- oh wait, it did! I got to the tip if the steps and was met with another set of steps. I sighed, and pushed on.

I finally got to the second floor, and yelled out to the girl.

"Hello?" I called out. "Where are you? I'm-...I'm here to help!"

"Help me." A small, weak voice choked out.

I started coughing, "Do not move. I'm coming over to you."

She was in the corner where the ceiling had fell. The fact that it was on fire wasn't helping. I saw her curled up in a ball, as she stared through the flames at me.

I was covered in a thin blanket of sweat. Damn....it...it's hot. Who knew fires were so hot. Who...knew... I ran over to her, and immediately grabbed a flaming piece of wood. Throwing it to the ground, I kicked the other pieces over, and grabbed the girls hand. I picked her up, and she wrapped her legs around my waist.

"You're okay," I soothed. "You're gonna be fine. Mommy's outside waiting for you."

Her baby blue eyes were glossy due to the tears. She had blond hair, and couldn't have been much older than five. She was shaking.

Wrapping my hand around her back, I held my other hand over the back of her head, before running across the room. Running into the hall way, I was about to run down the steps when the ceiling collapsed right in front of us.

"Shit!" I yelled in frustration.

She tried to turn to look but I held her head down. Think quickly. Then I got an idea.

"Hold on tight. Whatever you do, don't let go," I demanded turned around. I walked to the end of the hall, before turning to look at the fire wall before us.

"Ready?" I asked. She nodded, and I took a deep breath. "Here we go!"

I held my breath, and began running. Just as we were about to reach the wall, I turned to my free shoulder hit the wall instead of the one with her head on it. I landed on the steps, and almost tripped, but I luckily didn't. I hit the top of the other steps, and sighed. I raced down the steps, and going back through the living room, ran outside. I was blinded by the light of the sun, and closed my eyes as I walked over to the mother.

She had tears in her eyes. I handed the girl over, smiling. The mother smiled at me, and wrapped her arm around my neck, pulling me into a hug.

"Thank you," she said, tears of joy running down her face. "You're a hero."

I nodded, as I tried to catch my breath. I continued gasping for air, as I placed my hands on my hips. I then quickly shook my hands so that she knew she didn't have to thank me. Little late for that though. I looked around, and saw a few firetrucks skidding to a stop in front of the house, with ambulances right behind them.

"Thank y-are you alright?" The mother asked.

I nodded, and held a thumbs up. Taking a deep breath of fresh air, I took a step towards the house I was suppose to go to when everything went black.
