Lazing

Julianna was lazing on her bed, talking with Isabelle on the phone about the weird happenings that had gone on earlier.

"... And then I chased her into this copse of trees, but then... I lost her. And then Sabrina made me leave. So, yeah. I think we have an irritable Mother of Demons running around somewhere, so that's... Going to be fun."
She grimaced sardonically, flipping her shoe against her heel rhythmically.

On the other end, Isabelle made a sound of frustration. "Really? Lilith? Just... Really? I believe you, just... Really?"

"Yup. Lilith, tremors and a thousand tons of shifting earth. In Idris. I mean, what could possibly be wrong with that combination? Ah, well. I suppose the 'greatly experienced and super capable' adults will deal with it. And when they muck up, we can fix it."

That won her a laugh. Stretching out her arm, she reached for the water bottle on her bedside table, taking a swig. Suddenly, she almost chocked as a pair of blue eyes appeared around her doorway.

Cody. Who appeared to have been officially dumped on her family by his ever-so-loving grandparents.

She smiled slightly strainedly at him. "Hi."

Taking that as an invitation, he crept into her room.

"Jules, I'm bored. Will you play with me?"

Suddenly, Julianna remembered she was on the phone. "Sorry, Izzy, I'll have to call you back."

Switching off the phone, she reached down and pulled Cody up next to her. "Look, mate, you may have to learn to entertain yourself. I'm going to be busy often, so is, well, everyone really. Sometimes you'll have to... And I'm sorry..." She trailed off, feeling awkward in front of the little kid.

Cody nodded. Then he looked at the phone. "Can I... Maybe... Can we... Call my Rachel and talk to my sister?"
