That feeling

You know that feeling you get that tells you there's someone nearby, even though you can't see them?

Sebastian was having that feeling, and it wasn't because of Luci a few places behind him, pretending to herself that she wasn't following him.

But someone was definitely around here.

Not that they were necessarily following him either. In fact, this person potentially was completely unaware of their presence, and was just off from the immediate vicinity, maybe approaching them from a side tunnel?
He wasn't sure. There was just that feeling.

Slowing down his steps, he held up his hand to signal to Luci behind him.
Of course, she ignored him and consequently, in her effort to defy him, ended up miss-judging  the space and colliding with his shoulder.
He glared at her. She glared back.

"Why'd you make us stop."

He shushed her silently, placing a finger to his lips, whispering. "I'm trying to listen."

"Oh... Kay." She exaggeratedly whispered back. "What are we listening for?"

He gave her a forcefully shut-up-now! glare, which she responded to pretty swiftly, although grinning like the cat who'd gotten the cream at spurring such a reaction.

"There's someone around here." He whispered after several minutes of silence, his eyes scanning the dim twilight ahead of them.

Luci scrunched up her nose sceptically. "And the evidence of this is... Where?"

"Stop actively seeking to disagree with me and focus for a second!" He hissed, voice strangled in an effort not to yell.

She stopped, listening.

"Nope, it's quiet. I think this place is getting to you."

"Trust me, there is someone. I think they've moved off now, though."

He stepped forwards towards where the tunnels splintered off in different directions. "I swear, there was someone."

"Bet I can guess what you were hoping. Or who you were hoping." Luci grinned.
