"Evelyn was possessed by Lilith for a while, right?"

Julianna blinked. "I'll take your word for it. When was this?"

"Well, it lead up to the thing with Maddie and the caves."

Julianna hissed. "The Clave's told us fuck all about that! You think as her family it'd be especially important for us to know the details, but no. It's all been hushed up and fluffed up and... I mean, I think this detail about Lilith is something I should have known."

"Well, you know now. Evelyn was possessed by Lilith, then I think she was held captive by her or people associated with her."

"Wait." Julianna interupted. "Are you referring to, like, you know, the stuff in the house above? Because that makes sense."

"Yes, I am. Anyway, as I was saying..."

"She didn't go to the Clave because of Lilith!"

"You know, I can end my own sentences." Magnus muttered.

Julianna ignored him. "So, the only reason that things down here is because of Lilith?"

"Not necessarily, but as I said, it's probably the reason Evelyn didn't tell anyone about the disease breakout."

"Most likely because it was the reason for the breakout." Julianna commented. "But what do you mean that Lilith's 'not necessarily' the reason that things down here?"

Magnus turned the pages of the file back to the beginning. "In short, judging from these notes, Evelyn found something and hadn't quite realised what she'd found, but I'm guessing a certain someone else did realise.
One of the most powerful biological weapons ever."

"Shit." Julianna cursed. "But it doesn't effect Shadowhunters or Mundanes, right? So how is that any use? Like, no offense here, but it's a pretty bad weapon of mass destruction if it doesn't work on everyone."

Magnus gave her a look.
"It doesn't need to infect everyone. You've seen a Draugr, right? Instant killing machine. It's mind destroyed, so there's no fear or mercy. No recognition of pain, as I doubt there's anything more painful than what it's become. And it runs on the base instinct of the hunt and the kill. Who needs an army? You just direct this thing towards your enemies."

Julianna furrowed her brow in confusion. "But can you direct them though? I hardly think they're capable of following orders."

"Actually, that's a damn good question." Magnus replied. "How would one control a Draugr? Because if we can find that out..."

"We can thwart Lilith's plans!"

"Still capable of finishing my own sentences."
