Maddie blinked awake, to see a familiar dark haired face floating above her.

"Nyx?"

"No. Try again."

Maddie furrowed her brow, confused. "I don't... But you look..."

"I'm Alysha."

Maddie thought for a moment, confused. The name rung a bell, but she couldn't quite work out how.

Alysha rolled her eyes. "If you don't know by now, I can't be bothered to explain. But I  can tell you that Nyx is fine. Now, lie back whilst I look at your leg."

"I'm not letting you look at anything, you creepy weirdo. I do know your name from something, and I know it wasn't good... Nyx told me. Yeah, Nyx told me about you. You're... You're... Her split personality! Ow!"

Maddie had lifted up hand, with the intention to point accusingly or something along those lines, but suddenly a pull of pain that sliced her side made her yelp.

Alysha chuckled. "Yeah, that'll be your injured rib. It's not broken, don't worry. Just really bruised. And by the way, your wrong. I'm not Nyx's split personality, Nyx is totally a separate person from me. We just look similar."

Maddie eyed the girl warily, not sure what to make of her words.

She didn't like the look on this Alysha's face.
It was nothing like Nyx.
She couldn't help but get the feeling that under the surface, this girl felt some sort of sick satisfaction at Maddie being injured.

And another thing that got Maddie about Alysha was that, somehow, she seemed unscathed by the rock slide, which just really rubbed it in Maddie's face.

Stupid dead leg. This Alysha person wasn't even scratched.

"Well, if you're not going to let me help, I'll have to see if I can locate the others. You stay here, at what is now officially base camp."

"You're just going to abandon me, aren't you." Grumbled Maddie.

"No, course not. Not on purpose and not by accident. I have an impeccable sense of direction."
