Alysha skipped over to Maddie cheerily and flopped down besides her. "Hi!"

Maddie eyed her suspiciously. "What do you want?"

"Honestly? I'm bored. Entertain me."

Maddie snorted. "Go find something useful to do. Or at least someone else to bug."

"It's a choice between you, the whiny one and the definitely-not-golden couple.
Who else am I supposed to find? Besides..." She smiled a cat-like smile. "... I saved your life. I pulled you out the rubble. Surely you can cope having a chat with me."

Maddie groaned. "Fine. What do you want to talk about?"

"What's your favourite food?"

"...And points for randomness go to..." Maddie said, rolling her eyes.

"Hey, just being friendly."

Maddie looked at her suspiciously. "Why?"

"Because I'm bored."

They sat in silence, Maddie feeling very awkward, especially at Alysha's strangely non-hostile attitude.

As almost anyone could have predicted, Alysha was the first to break the silence.
"Do you ever worry that you're a bad friend?"

Maddie choked. "What the heck? Where did that come from?"

Alysha shrugged. "Just a random thought I had. I have very little filter for stuff like that. But seriously, do you?"

"In what context?" Maddie asked warily.

"In the context that you're happy your friend broke up with her man, even though it really upset and confused her?"

"Couple of things about that."Maddie said angrily, glaring at Alysha. "One: You have no moral ground to stand on, you're the one that caused it to happen!
Two: I was looking out for her safety, like any good friend!"

"So... You are happy they broke up. Which means you are happy she's upset." Alysha concluded, grinning like she'd just worked out something really clever.

"Am not! You're twisting my words! I'm not happy Nyx is upset, but I am happy she's not with him!"

"Bit paradoxical, ain't that? Because the reason she's upset, which you're apparently not happy about, is the reason she's quote/end quote 'safe', as it were, which is the reason she's upset.

So, in conclusion, you contradict yourself, and you're a bad friend."

"Oh. My. God." Maddie exclaimed frustratedly. "Do you live only to drive people nuts?"

"No, but it's a pretty decent hobby."
