"Is she actually asleep over there?" Maddie wondered aloud, squinting at the still form of Alysha, sitting on the floor, arms crossed, head leaning back against the rock and eyes closed, a light smile on her lips.

"No." Luci replied bitterly, looking up from the floor to momentarily glare at the dark haired woman.

"She looks like it."

"Well, she's not!" Luci snapped. "Trust me, she is very much awake."

"Okay, okay." Maddie soothed. "Wow, she's really got you on edge, hasn't she?"

"She's a bitch. A crazy bitch. Emphasis on the crazy."

"Well then. Okay." Maddie wasn't too sure how to respond to that.

"Yes, well, it's your turn now."

"Wait, what?" Maddie looked at her, confused. "Turn to do what?"

"Try to find out about the light beam."

"Wait, wait, wait. We're taking turns now? I don't even actually care what it is! I just want to get out!
You want to find out, you can make a plan to find out. I'm staying here."

Luci rolled her eyes. "Look, I just need something on her to even the balance. She thinks she knows so much about us, maybe it's time to start turning the tables."

"Wait, she what?" Maddie looked at Luci wide-eyed, slightly alarmed.

Luci nodded somberly, internally smirking. "Oh yeah. You talk to her and she... She comes out with all this stuff about you that she just knows. Like, she looks at you, and can tell all sorts of things about you. Things you don't necessarily want her to know.
She observes, watching, and noticing, the small things that no one else does. Like now. Trust me, she's definitely not asleep."

Maddie shuddered. "Please let's not provoke her. It feels a little similar to poking a sleeping viper with a stick."

Oh my god. We are at 100 pages. Don't know how to feel about that.
