Travis pulled up at the house, sweaty and panicky about what he had to do.
Climbing out of the car, he swiftly walked to the front door and opened it.
Even before the door was open, he could hear Rachel screaming from the outside. However, it was surprisingly silent as he stepped into the hall, the place seeming eerily empty as all the movement was restricted to the upstairs.
Dread settling in the pit of his stomach, Travis strode purposefully up the stairs, both desiring to run to Rachel's side, and hang back in fear of what he would find.
Sterling his nerves, he pushed open Rachel's door.
Rachel's eyes were rolled back in her head, showing only milky white beneath her half closed eyelids.
She lay on the bed, delirious, spasming and shaking.Magnus was holding some kind of damp cloth to her forehead, worry and desperation evident on his face.
Across the room, Owen was frantically rifling through every text they'd already looked through, in the desperate hope of finding something they'd missed.
Selene was not in the room at all, obviously choosing to help by tending to the baby, allowing the others to work undistracted. It took a few moments for Travis to remember why he'd come.
All he could see was Rachel. Her pain, it was his whole world.
Magnus was the one to bring him back. "Has Evelyn found something?"
"Uh... Yes. At least, I think so."
Immediately, like wildfire, a small spark of hope light up the room, reflecting in everyone's eyes.
"Really? What? How?"
Travis swallowed. "I don't really know what or how. But I do know, for it to have a chance of working, Evelyn can't do it here. So, thing is... You think we can get Rachel to the mansion?"
Magnus swallowed. "That might be difficult. Not impossible, but difficult."
