Bloody hell.

She'd cracked it.

Unbelievably, by total accident, she'd unlocked the possibility of a cure.

Ideally, she'd want to do multiple tests, refine it to its most effective level, but for now, this was all she had and was the only chance Rachel had. Turning to Travis, Evelyn called him over.
"Hey, I think... No promises, but I think,  I have a potential cure. Now, it's not definite, and it's extremely risky. Heck, I'm just going to say it. It could potentially kill her. But, if we don't try, she basically will be dead. She will be worse than that, she will be the living dead. But this is the only option, other than... Putting her out of her misery. Do you want to try this?"

Travis's lip trembled nervously, and he avoided her steely grey gaze. "I suppose... There's no real choice. We have to try this, if there is so much of the slightest chance..."

Evelyn nodded, eyes resolute but sad. "Yes. There is no choice. Now, you have to listen to me. I need you to take my car..."

"I wrecked your car. That Emilia girl..."

Evelyn nodded, understanding. "Then... Do you have a car?"

"Yeah, at my place."

Evelyn nodded. "Go home. Take the bus or something. Be quick. Get your car, and... Get Rachel in the car. Do whatever you have to do to not get hurt, keep yourself safe, but get her in the car. And bring her here. I have to set up for the operation..."

"What are you going to do?"

"It's basically, a blood transfusion. But more complex. I'll explain later. Tell me, does your friend, Nick, keep preserved blood?"

"Yeah, why?"

"He's going to be hungry for a while. Bring that too. Now, go!"

"But wait..." Travis gestured to the exit into the house. "What about Nick?"

"Trust me, Emilia will find him. Now, hurry!"
