Maddie's fears were realised seconds later as the wall opposite her crumbled completely, large boulders spilling into their already cramped air bubble.
The adrenaline rush was immediate, and like she'd been suddenly gifted magical powers, she reflexively dragged herself out of the way, her arms somehow managing to move her bodyweight at a fast enough speed to avoid the immediate and closest dangers, although she was still at incredible risk, more than a person with use of all their limbs.
She used her working leg to propel her along, in some kind of awkward three-legged crawl. She couldn't see where he'd gone, in fact, she couldn't see anything but the impending wall of crushing death.
Her vision went bluey at the edges, internally making her panic as she began to feel light headed.
Apparently, her leg didn't like being moved.
She choked back a shallow breath, forcing herself not to faint.
If she did, she would definitely die.The cave was destroyed and remoulded so many times, Maddie just dragging herself from one small area of space to the other, walls and blockades coming down, destroying and creating themselves.
Maddie didn't know how far she'd moved, one inch or three miles. It felt all the same to her.
Suddenly, a spear of rock fell towards her, aiming to pierce her body and sever her spine.
At the last second, she rolled, so instead of skewering her, she was pinned beneath the underside as it buried itself in the cave floor. The sharp edges of the rock from both above and beneath her dug into her flesh, the weight heavy on her body, but fortunately nothing else seemed seriously damaged.
Blindly, she screamed, clawing at the rock pinning her down, trying to shove it off.
"Help me! Just fucking help me!"
A pair of hands grabbed her, pulling her roughly from the rock.
The bone of her injured leg caught on something, making a horrible popping, crunching sound.
Her world went black.
