My stomach growling woke me out of sleep. I didn't know I fell asleep so quick. It takes me a while to realize where I am, Sawyers house. I know there are cookies and cold hot chocolate downstairs. I'll just have to take my chances on whether or not Sawyer will wake up. Besides it's not like I'm sneaking around and being nosey, I just want food.
I make it downstairs with no problem, thankfully. The cookies are still on the counter and I gladly take all of them. I lied; I am snooping, snooping around the fridge. The cookies need some milk. I take a few cookies in hand and start walking around. Sawyer can't hear me from the first floor. I've never noticed the high ceilings and how poorly decorated it is in here. Straight from the kitchen there is a large sitting room with an old fashion fireplace against the wall. The whole room is covered with large long windows, and what looks like a really expensive rug, and couches facing the fireplace with a coffee table. I exit the large room and walk the long hallway that leads to tinier rooms, I pass multiple bathrooms. I stop when I see the piano room that's filled with books, the only room with things in it. I wonder if there's an office down here. As I'm about to wander off to find an office room, I hear footsteps coming my way.
"¿Quien anda alli? Who is there?" I hear Nancy say not too far from me. I don't want to get caught, she'll for sure tell Sawyer. I hear her pass by the room I'm in and I just stand still, thankful that it's pitch black in here. I wait a few minutes just in case she comes by again, when she doesn't I slowly tip toe out. When I make it to the bottom of the stairs without being caught, I almost feel like a ninja.
"¿Qué estás haciendo? What are you doing?" I hear Nancy right behind me as I'm about to make my way up. I freeze hoping she can't see me. I hear her walk away, but as soon as I take a step the lights turn on. I turn around hoping she isn't mad, she's holding a broom as her weapon.
"I was hungry." I tell her. "I just came down to find some food." I shrug my shoulders innocently. She looks at me for a while, and a smile starts to form.
"Hungry? Why didn't you say so?" She tells me. I'm in shock that she isn't yelling at me or being a weird creepy maid that I thought she was. "Come, I'll make you something." She gestures for me to follow her.
"I'm sorry if I scared you." I apologize, she looks over her shoulder and smiles. She starts taking out a pan and a few things from the refrigerator. I watch as she swiftly moves around, turning the stove on, cutting up a few things. Not long after, a plate of food is in front of me.
"What is this?" I take in what's in front of me. It smells good, and looks even better.
"Some left over meat, tortilla, and cheese. It's called a quesadilla." She stands there, proud of what she prepared. I keep looking at it scared to try something new. I take a bite and immediately I want more.
"This is really good." I tell her with my mouth full. She softly laughs and starts to clean up her mess. "Thank you." I go in for a hug. She's surprised at first but hugs me back. When I let go I catch a tear sliding down her face and she turns away quick. "Do you need help?" I say and start to wipe down the counter.
"No no, it's late. Go sleep." She says. I look at her to make sure, and she nods with a smile for me to leave. My stomach is satisfied and I hurry up the stairs. I still have this internal battle that keeps raiding my thoughts. I'm not sure if I should tell Drew we're siblings or keep it a secret. If I tell him, and we're really not that would break my heart and it would just worry him. If I don't tell him and get to the bottom of this, and it all blows over then he wouldn't have anything to lose.
