Sawyer lets go of me and runs his hands through his hair. He turns his back to me and starts pacing back and forth, muttering a few sentences in Spanish. I stand there wondering what exactly he's doing. I take one step backwards to the door and I see Sawyers head snap in my direction.
"Feels good to have this power over you." I laugh at him. He stops pacing and walks towards me again, with a knowing smile. What is he thinking? I feel his warm breath on me.
"You won't actually do it." His expression changes and I move back trying to find the door knob. His intense gaze has me pinned and I'm somewhat caught off guard. Seems like he's not at all bothered by my threat.
"What makes you say that?" I challenge back, ready to race out of here.
"You'll regret it." He says with a smirk. What exactly can he do? Hold me hostage in this room? Threaten me? He calmly walks over to my bed and sits on it. He crosses his arms over his chest and mockingly smiles at me. I'm confused by his change in attitude and I feel like this is some sort of trap. He seemed stressed and worried I'd spill the beans to Evan a few minutes ago and now; nothing.
I eye him suspiciously, contemplating my next move. I move closer to the door and he gives no reaction. I jiggle the door knob and still nothing, he's just on his phone. I open the door slowly, while watching his face. He seems bored and he just lies down on the bed.
I make my way out of the room, wondering if this is even worth it. What would telling Evan do? Would he call the police? Or was Sawyer talking about our new founding friendship at the tree? A lot has happened today and I'm not sure which one he wants me to keep quiet about. I don't exactly know where Evan can be. I try opening every door on the hunt to finding Evan. All doors are locked but one finally turns. I open it expecting to see Evan, but nope. I walk in on a women half naked. She screams when she sees me and tries covering up. My hands go straight to cover my eyes.
"I'm so sorry. By any chance have you seen a tall guy with green eyes, nicely combed hair? Goes by the name Evan?" I'm uncomfortable with this whole situation that I start blabbing out anything.
"Get out!" The girl shouts. Before I can close the door, I'm graced with an unfortunate circumstance. I see Evan walking out from a fresh shower; in only a towel.
"Maple?" Evan sounds surprised. "What are you doing in here?" Before I answer I'm interrupted.
"Who is she, Evan?" The girl points an accusing finger at me and turns to Evan angry; hurt laced in her voice. My eyes widen at the mess I'm causing.
"Sorry. I'll be on my way." I apologize and I hear Evan sigh loud. I close the door, embarrassed by what just happened. I fell right into Sawyers trap. I speed walk shamefully back to my room. I walk in and slam the door behind me; Sawyer is still lying there unbothered.
"How did it go?" Sawyer asks, not the slightest bit curious. He almost sounds like he's mocking me.
"Why? A little warning could have been nice." I exasperate; knowing full well Sawyer knew about this. He sits up and studies my face, I roll my eyes.
"Your cheeks are rosy. Are those beads of sweat I detect?...Cute." He raises his eyebrows and his lips are curved into a smirk.
"Okay, look. I promise not to spill a word about anything. I'm pretty sure my eyes are going to burn off. After putting me through that torture, you at least owe me an explanation." I bargain with Sawyer.
"I didn't make you do anything you didn't want to do." Sawyer says in a flat tone. I roll my eyes.
"Then you can leave. You're no help to me." I tell him bluntly. Sawyer doesn't say anything and starts walking to the door, but as he's about to reach the door; someone knocks. He turns to me with a questioning look. I'm pretty sure it's Evan, but then again could be a random drunk still partying. My eyes open wide at the possibility of it being Evan. I rush to Sawyer pushing him to hide in my closet.
