"I did nothing, I swear." Carter says, lifting his hands up in surrender. Sawyer pushes Carter back harder.
I look over to Evan for help, but all he does is watch the little interaction.
"Who the hell did this?" Sawyer bellows out.
I can't see Carter, Sawyer is blocking him. Evan finally breaths out annoyed, and goes between Carter and Sawyer.
"It's not smart. You're causing a scene." He says, his voice steady. He places his hand on Sawyers shoulder and forcefully pulls him off Carter.
Sawyers angry breathing is heard and he looks at me one final time. I don't think he's noticed my black eye, just my bleeding nose.
I rush up to Carter while glaring at Sawyer.
"Are you okay?" I ask Carter.
"Yeah I'm fine, don't worry about it." He says and I embrace him in a hug.
"Sawyer is such an asshole." I whisper so only Carter can hear me. I hear him chuckle,
"He just cares about you." Carter says and I roll my eyes.
If he cares for me, he wouldn't be acting the way he does.
"Come on lets go, we both need ice cream after this." Carter says, grabbing my hand. And I let his cold fingers intertwine with mine.
I look back to wave Evan goodbye and I catch Sawyer throwing daggers our way. He's about to follow us, but Evan stops him.
"Don't touch her." Sawyer barks at Carter for holding my hand. We're both half way out the door, when Carter angrily turns around.
"Instead of always being in her business, why don't you give your wife the attention. Dick." Carter argues back. My eyes widen, never seeing Carters angry side.
Sawyer moves his brother out of the way and starts advancing towards us. I pull Carter back by his shirt and walk in front of Sawyer. I know tears are spilling, there is no need for crying.
"Sawyer just stop. Leave us alone." I tell him, and firmly place my hand on his chest, I look up at his green eyes, they're furrowed. But once he catches sight of a tear drop, his eyes soften.
"You can't trust him." Sawyer whispers. "He is not who you think he is." His voice seems calm, but there is an edge to it.
"How would you know?" I counter. I stand there as Sawyer glares at Carter, eyeing him up and down.
"Stop reading him." I cross my arms over my chest.
"Look, he has other things on his mind." Sawyer says and my eyebrow raises up in confusion.
"I know he helps his uncle spy on Evan for, I'm not sure what." I tell him and close my mouth. I wasn't supposed to say that.
"Opal, let's go." Carter says and I turn to look at him.
"Is that what he told you?" Sawyer says, mockingly and I turn back to look at him.
"Yes." I says, defensively.
"Like him and many other people, he's just an obstacle, my brother doesn't care." Sawyer says with a shrug. So they knew all along, it's just not that important?
"I know I'm harsh, cruel and in your eyes evil," he starts saying and I roll my eyes,
"More like everyone's eyes." I mutter, cutting him off.
"But it's only because...." he stops and he runs his hands through his hair.
"I know his type." Sawyer continues. Not finishing his thought.
