"Sawyer?" Drew questions. His hair has grown out, and it's wavy, he scratches at his head confused. I snap out of my intense dream and lay back down.
"Sorry, never mind." I tell Drew. Lisa hands me a glass of water and I drink it all before turning around and trying to fall back to sleep.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Drew asks, his voice laced with concern. I don't turn around to look at him,
"Yeah." I croak, pulling the blankets higher up, so I'm huddled in a small cave.
"If you need anything just call us." Lisa offers. I don't answer her, instead I close my eyes trying to make the tears stop. I can hear Drew sigh, and they both leave me alone with my thoughts.
After that horrifying nightmare I don't think I'll be able to sleep. After watching Sawyer die, I don't think I'd ever be able to witness a death ever again. All my dreams feel so real, what if Sawyer is hurt?
I quickly and quietly put my shoes and a warm coat on, there's a gut feeling inside and I feel like Sawyer is hurt. I open my door and stop every time the door creaks. When there is no sign of life, I make my way to the front door.
I breath out when I make it outside. I pull my jacket closer to me and start running. Sawyers house isn't that far away. I'm too afraid to check my surroundings, especially in the woods. Every snap of a twig, I pretend is me.
There is nothing there, there is no such thing as shadow man. No such thing as dark figures hiding in the forest. I repeat over in my head.
When I'm finally at Sawyers front gate, I feel slightly relieved. My mind keeps replaying the horrific scene and the way Sawyers lifeless body just fell to the ground. I close my eyes and try to clear my head.
I knock on the door, and my knocks get desperate as each minute passes. Tears start brimming my eyes. I'm so stupid, if something happened to Sawyer he wouldn't be home. When I'm about to run and find Sawyer, the door swings open.
"Opal? What are you doing here?" Sawyer huffs, I quickly turn around. He's only in joggers and I eye his body. There is no gun shot wound, but there is a scar. I know I shouldn't be surprised, but I'm completely confused. Once I see he's okay, my face tinges red. I have no excuse for why I came, it's almost four in the morning.
"I came to talk to you." I tell Sawyer, he stands up straighter, eyeing me.
"Whose at the door dear?" Mia asks coming up next to Sawyer, sleep still in her eyes. She lifts Sawyers arm to be under his warmth.
"You've been crying." I hear Nancy say, pushing everyone out of the way.
"Obviously she's been crying." Sawyer says, rude. He gets out of Mias embrace and walks to me, but I take a few steps back.
"I should be going, I just thought...never mind." I tell him walking back, I miss a step and I feel myself falling backwards. Sawyers quick reflexes grab me before I'm able to hit the ground.
"What happened?" He questions. His eyes are focused on my face, ready to listen to what I have to say.
"It's nothing." I say, pulling out of his hold.
"Tell me now." He threatens, his voice low.
Before I give in and tell him, Nancy saves me and pulls me inside.
