I quickly get up, closing the door behind me. Leaving an empty room, and more questions. The little boy is real, they just moved him somewhere else. But where?
I walk back into my room and out into the hallway. I hear giggles coming from Sawyers room and I roll my eyes. Wonder what happened to Bethany, and all the other girls. Mia seems nice, but something is off about her. She seems like she's always on edge. I walk downstairs, and find Nancy sitting on the sofa.
"Are you okay?" I ask Nancy. She looks at me from her day dream stare and smiles.
"Si, mija. Just a little tired." She starts to get up.
"No, sit. What can I help you with?" I question.
"I thought you weren't feeling good." She questions, confused. I stutter my words before I answer,
"I'm feeling better." I tell her, looking away. I start fixing the pillows around her fluffing them up. "Lie down." I tell her, and run up the stairs to grab the extra blankets that are on my bed.
"What are you doing?" She asks, when she sees me running down with a blanket in my hand. At this point I'm not even sure, but she does a lot around here and I want her to have a rest day.
"Just relax, it's your day to relax." I tell her, she's about to argue, but when I put the warm blanket on her she snuggles into it.
"Hot chocolate?" I ask.
"Hmmm, si, yes." She says.
"Coming right up." I smile. I walk straight into the kitchen and walk over to the humungous pantry door. I feel like there is a secret door in there, but won't know till I open it. I open it slowly and take in all the food that is stacked on endless shelves, I search for the light and switch it on.
"What are you doing?" I hear Sawyers gruff voice behind me. I turn around startled,
"You scared me." I say.
"That means, you're doing shit you shouldn't be doing." He raises a questioning brow, his arms crossed over his chest.
"I'm just looking for the box of hot chocolate." I turn around, so he can't see my face.
"It's on the counter." I hear him sigh. I turn around confused and look on the counter, a big box of hot chocolate sitting there.
"Oh." I say.
"Mind explaining what you're doing?"
"Nancy wants some, so I'm making her some." Sawyer eyes me and nods, he ruffles his curly hair and walks to the fridge,
"Mia and I are going out. I trust you'll be okay by yourself." Sawyer looks at me, and I can't decipher the look he's giving me.
"Where are you going?" I question.
"A date." He says, drinking from his water bottle.
"How long?" I ask.
"Doesn't concern you." He says, walking out of the kitchen. At least he'll be gone, and I can search the house.
"Wait." I stop him, he walks back in, his jaw clenched. "Where do you have cough medicine?" I ask.
"Why?" He questions,
"Doesn't concern you." I use his words against him. He walks over, closer to me.
"Guess you won't know." He shrugs and starts walking out of the kitchen. Come on, think fast.
"It's my dreams. I just want a good nights sleep." I whisper. Sawyers green eyes search my face, he stays quiet and walks away. I follow after him, I'm getting that cough syrup whether he likes it or not.
