I hastily make my way up the hospital stairs, my head is throbbing and I slow down my pace. I hear Sawyer honk once and I close my eyes composing myself before I turn to look at him.

"I'll bring you lunch." He says and I look at him with a glare. I know he's trying to get a read on my face, so I rush inside before he can ask me anymore questions.

I have a meeting with Axel and all Sawyer told me to do was distract him. I'm thirty minutes early since I didn't have to walk or wait for a bus. Thanks to Sawyer....

I go into a bathroom stall, my head feeling heavy. Almost like all my memories are weighing back in. I sit down on the toilet and put my head between my hands.

"Maeve, we have to go." I hear Sawyers tired voice.

I open my eyes, the bathroom light is way too bright. I close my eyes,

"Tu vas devoir faire semblant d'être mort." I hear myself warning Sawyer. (French: Then you're going to have to pretend to be dead)

I open my eyes again, the bathroom light still to strong, that my eyes automatically close again.

"Opal, we're going to have to leave him here, he's going die." Joseph says, his voice cracks at the thought of his words being true.

I look up at Jospeh, hiding every expression I want to show. We stare at each other before he breaths out.

"I used to hate it when you two started to talk in different languages. I would be so angry that you would teach him French and then talk shit about me." He says with a sad smile. "Now because of you I know every curse word in French." He continues with a laugh. I give him a smile and he shakes his head, brushing off the memories from when we were younger.

"What did you tell him just now?" Jospeh questions after I don't respond. Sawyer twitches under me and I look down and gently run my fingers through his sweaty curls.

"I told him that I'm not going to let him die. Especially not alone." I display a sad smile and I feel Sawyer softly pinch the back side of my lower back.

"You know we have to leave him here. You're going to have to be checked." Jospeh warns and I start to shake my head no.

"You're not staying here and it's final."

"You can't tell me what to do. He's not dying alone." I say with finality a tear escaping as I shout at Jospeh.

"Sir, we are a mile out side of the building. But you're surrounded." The walkie-talkie goes on.

"Shit." Jospeh says and punches his fist on the glass door, which makes me jump. "Send in the explosives and smoke bombs." Jospeh demands.

"Copy that. Meet us at the main entrance in fifteen, not a minute early, not a minuet less." The guy on the other side warns.

I sit still not bothered by what's going on and Jospeh packs all his stuff.

"Come on." He says and I shake my head. "I'm not leaving you here."

"Just leave me alone, Jospeh." I sob into Sawyers chest. But I don't feel Jospeh move away.

"Look I'm going to stay with him until his last second. There's a room further up that's empty, I can hide in there." I try to convince him but he seems hesitant. "Help me move him up there." I insist and get up.

"There's an easy way to this." Jospeh says calmly. He grabs onto my shoulder to stop me from trying to pull Sawyer up the stairs.

"He can be your rat. That's the only way they'll let him back onto the ship. If he's dead and if you're going to conduct studies." He says and I look down at Sawyer.
