Dinner with a fake smile

So me and Tyler were almost at the place. We made a sharp turn.

"Hey try not to kill us.." I said.

"Shit .. My bad. Oh hey your drink spilled on my sleeve .. Can you wipe it off a little?" Tyler asked.

The stain wasn't even that big. Literally the size of a finger nail.

"What? It's not even that big ... It'll dry off." I said.

"Alex seriously I can't do it.. I'm driving." Tyler said.

"I'm putting my lipstick on ... And again it'll dry off and disappear !" I said. 5 minutes later we arrived. Tyler parked the car on the side walk area.

He walked out the car and just kept walking. He turned around and made this evil smile. I made this shocked face at him because he didn't open the door for me. He did that on purpose. I walked out the car and walked to him.

"You didn't wash the drink off my sleeve .... I didn't feel like opening the car door for you !" Tyler said. I rolled my eyes. We walked in the restaurant. Kate and them were seated at a very secluded part.

"Hey guys." I said. We sat down.

We all started talking. We finished ordering our main entreés and then jaden starts talking.

"Oh hey babe... I can't believe I didn't even say this but you look beautiful tonight." Jaden said to his wife Ariel.

She smiled.
"Thanks jaden!" Ariel said.

"I mean .. Kate I tell you you're beautiful everyday! Haha.. I'm gonna say you look gorgeous tonight!" Dan said. Kate laughed and thanked him. It was like Dan was trying to one up jaden with his better compliment to Kate. Me and Tyler were so used to not even saying anything about each other cause we're kinda ... Not really in a state of talking. And we literally are talking to other people. Pretty sure he has no interest in me anymore. They all looked at Tyler waiting for him to say something. I honestly didn't care but it was awkward cause they all thought Tyler was gonna say something.

He looked up.
"Can't wait for dessert.." Tyler said looking at the menu. Jaden laughed.

"Dude... Thought you were gonna join in on the complimenting our women thing." Jaden said.

Tyler kinda hesitated. He side eyed me cause we both know that i didn't even care cause we were acting like we still like each other. Well... I mean I don't completely not like him... We kinda mutually aren't acting like wife and husband to each other at our house.

"Umm.. Yeah ... Alex knows what I think of her.." Tyler said. I nodded and we both wanted to move on from that awkward complimenting thing.

"Come on man... It's not that hard to just compliment your girl one time ." Dan said. Tyler rolled his eyes.

"Okay then... Umm Alex .. You look amazing tonight like always...." Tyler said then continued looking at the menu.

"... Thanks..... " I said sarcastically.. But not in an obvious way.
"See not that hard.." Dan said. We all ate and talked.
The bill came around.
Jaden and Dan paid for their girls . I was about to pay for mine.

"I got it... " Tyler said.
He probably only said that to throw them off that we werent falling apart. We all left. Me and Tyler got in the car.

"How much was my bill?.." I asked as I was getting money out my pocket.

"$95.00 " Tyler said. I gave him that amount.

"Haha what?.. I'm just kidding , you don't have to pay me back." Tyler said. That was odd. Didn't think he'd actually pay for my meal tonight and not want money in return .

"Okay..... " I said. As we were driving my phone died so the music stopped playing. I just sat looking through the window.

"What'd you think of the dinner?" I asked.

"Food was actually pretty good. But jaden made me so uncomfortable with tryna force me to compliment you since you know... You and I are ... Kinda at that falling out stage." Tyler said.

"I know .. I was like .... I honestly don't care if you don't compliment me because we don't even like each other anymore..." I said.

"Yeah. Exactly ." Tyler said. I kinda used my peripheral to look at him as he said that. Seeing him in this suit kind of reminded me of when him and I used to go on dates. Kinda brought back these good memories.

As we were at a stop light I could feel Tyler looking at me. I looked at him then he looked awAy.

"Umm so how did you like the dinner?" Tyler asked.

"It was pretty alright . I mean I also really loved that you said I looked amazing tonight as always ." I said as I laughed. Tyler laughed.

"Oh yeah .... That was a .. Lie you know since I had no choice." Tyler said.

"Yeah haha I know I was like in my head jaden why?? Plus I didn't even look good tonight so I felt like it was gonna be an obvious lie ." I Said.

"What? No you looked good tonight." Tyler said.

"What?." I asked a little confused since him and I don't say stuff like that to each other ... Well anymore.

"I mean ...... Umm you didn't look awful .. Is what I mean. I mean you could of put more effort.." Tyler said.

"Okay...?" I said. We arrived to the house.

I put my purse on the table. Tyler took his jacket off. I changed out of my dress into some shorts and a tank.
I went in the kitchen to grab a drink of water. Tyler was probably upstairs changing. I walked upstairs. And at the same time he walked out the bathroom.
Kinda awkward.

"Well .. Good night I guess.." I said as I was walking to the other room.

"Wait Alex.." Tyler said. I turned around kinda hoping he was gonna say something interesting.

"Have a good night." Tyler said then walked into the other room.

Okay wow. I don't know why but I felt like my feelings were slowly making a turn. I felt like I was starting to like him again and it was bad Because he obviously has no interest in me anymore because of our fall out.
