Camping trip

I had to sit in the front because of all the bags that were in the back seat. I was on my phone. The drive was gonna be 40 min long. It was a really nice day out though. The radio was playing bad songs so I was trying to change the station.
"I actually liked that song but okay.." Ashton said.
"Haha sorry I'll change it back then." I said. He laughed.
"Nah it's fine I was just kidding." Ashton said.
"Hey so did Ryder invite you on this trip?" Ashton asked.
"Yeah.. I was contemplating whether I should go and I thought it'd be fun." I said.
"Ryder didn't tell me about this camping trip till I asked him why he had a tent and he had to let me go haha!" Ashton said.
"Haha so what? He secretly didn't want you to come?" I asked.
"Last time him and I went camping , he got sick from this food I made." Ashton said.
"Ha! Wonder why ...?" I said.
"You liked my salad I made." Ashton said smiling as he looked at me. I laughed and looked out the window. We stopped for gas. Ricky and Ryder were there pumping gas as well. Everyone went to the gas station to get a snack. I walked out the car. Ashton was pumping the gas.
"This might be weird but I'm so protective over my car so can you hold this cloth so the gas doesn't go on my car." Ashton said. I looked at him weird.
"Yeah.." I said. Kinda a weird request. Ryder walked over to us.
"Hey guys.. " Ryder said.
"Oh hey man." Ashton said.
"Umm so I already payed for your gas so you don't have to walk in. Ryder's friends Mav, Ricky and Tom were at their car kind of arguing. Ryder went to break it up. Mav and Ricky were kind of getting into it so then Mav had to ride with me and Ashton. They all left.
"Hey man.. I'll drive" Mav said to Ashton. We got in the car. Me and Ashton sat in the back seat. It was getting to a sunset. We were all kinda quiet because Mav was focusing on driving while Ashton and I were on our phone. We got to the place. Everyone got out the car. We all set up tents. I saw Ashton walking in a different direction than everyone else. I ran with my stuff to him.
"Hey! Where you going everyone's going in the opposite direction of you!" I said to Ashton.
"Yeah..... see Ryder usually doesn't know a good campground so i just go my own way." Ashton said. It was subset and almost getting dark.
"Alright well I'm just gonna get back to them." I said to Ashton. As Ryder and his other friends were setting up tents, Karen and her friend were just taking selfies. It was getting kinda dark. I was about to make my tent.
"Hey how are you? Where's Ashton?" Ryder asked.
" he said you pick bad campgrounds haha" I said. He laughed.
"Dude.. There's only room for 4 tents." Mav said.
"So?" Ryder asked.
"Well I'm sleeping in my own tent and so is Ricky." Mav said.
"And Zooey and tommy are gonna share a tent and then it leaves you Karen and Alex." Mav said. Karen walked over.
".. Well umm I was hoping to share a tent with you Ryder." Karen said as she put her head against his arm. Some parts of the forest were wet and there was only a small section of dry ground that's why only 4 tents were allowed to be there.
"Alex don't worry you can just -" Ryder said.
"No it's fine I'll just take my stuff and find another camp ground for now.." I said. He looked kinda upset that I had to find a new campspot. I was walking through the forest. I kept walking for maybe a mile and walked across this little pond till I saw Ashton sitting on a log warming up to a fire.
"Oh hey... Let me guess.. Ryder's campground sucked?" Ashton asked. I put my stuff down.
"Only four tents could fit because the ground was still damp around." I replied.
"Can I set my stuff near here?" I asked. Ashton thought about it.
"You're really thinking about it? I just walked a mile lugging all this stuff." I said. He laughed.
"Haha yeah .. You can set your stuff here." Ashton said as he was warming his hands on the fire. The campground Ashton found was a lot better surprisingly. I set my tent up about 20 feet away from Ashton.I was trying to set my tent up. I was having trouble only because it was kinda dark out. I was setting some pieces up then some parts fell.
"Need some help?" Ashton asked.
"... Maybe a little." I replied. He bent Down and connected the pieces and helped set the tent.
".. Thanks." I said.
"Haha you're welcome." Ashton said smiling then went to sit back on the log next to the Fire. He was roasting marshmallows over the fire. He walked over to me.
"Wanna roast marshmallows?" Ashton offered. I laughed.
"Why do I get the feeling that you were some Boy Scout who knows everything about camping ?" I asked Ashton. He laughed.
"Haha cause I am.my mom forced me to learn about survival stuff when I was younger." Ashton said. We roasted marshmallows. I sat across from him. We just started talking about concerts and stuff.
"Okay well it's gettin dark so I'm gonna go sleep in my tent." I said and got up. I he slipped on this rock and fell on top of him while he was sitting. It hurt !
"Ow! Sorr... **cough** sorry!" I said.
"It's fine .. " Ashton replied then coughed.
"You sure?" I asked while I was still on top of his body and was being an idiot not getting off. He was looking in my eyes.
"Huh? Oh ..Yeah I'm.. Im good." Ashton replied. I smiled. He lightly laughed.
"I'm gonna get off you now.." I said as I got up.
"Alright well goodnight.. " Ashton said. I went in my tent. That was kind of a weird altercation.
***next day**
We both brushed our teeth and brought our backpack with us while we walked.
