In Season 1, Episode 9: Lost Love", Dr. Lane Hunter mysteriously lets Nic back on Lily's case and then Lane orders potassium for Lily and then Lane changes the flow rate, and then she framed Nic for it. Well, what if Nic saw through what Lane was doing and refused to go back to being on Lily's case, when she is asked, to go back on it. You might want to watch "Season 1, Episode 9: Lost Love" before you read this.

(No one's POV)
Nic Nevin just got done checking on a patient, when she was done, she went out into the hallway. Then all of a sudden, she sees Dr. Lane Hunter walking toward her.
"Nic", Lane Hunter called her.
Nic didn't want to stop walking, to talk to her, as she didn't have a great relationship with Lane Hunter, but Lane blocked her path, so she couldn't get past her.
"Nic, I wanted to talk to you, I'm... I didn't like how we left things, I overreacted, you are absolutely right to be curious, you are a very good nurse".
"Thank you", Nic said, curious as why Lane was being so nice, and so pleasant to her, especially what had happened.
"So, I wanted to make it up to you and wanted you to go back on Lily's medical case, especially since Lily seems to trust you and she, of course, deserves the best care at this hospital".
Nic couldn't believe it. Was she serious? Lane was, after all the stuff she said about Lane ruining her career, if she was nosy, poking around about Lane and her treatment plans.
"I will not be going back to Lily's case, thank you for offering".
"What do you mean"? Lane was shocked. She thought Nic would have jumped at the chance to get back on Lily's case again, since she cared about her.
"You are asking me to go back on Lily's case to get rid of me, and to shut me up, and make me from not reporting you to the medical board, but that will not stop me". Nic said, and then she turned around and walked the other direction.
Nic walked down the hallway, and then she saw Dr. Conrad Hawkins walking toward her, and she stopped him and pulled him in a call-waiting room.
"What's going on"?
"We need to talk about Lane".

I don't know if this would have happened in the show. I was trying to capture of who Dr. Lane Hunter, a very manipulated person.
