Chapter 48

Alyssa

"So what's up? You seemed pretty sad over the phone." Jailee said staring at me as we sat on my couch at my place.

I sighed. "I'm pregnant." 

A huge smile appeared on Jailee's face.

"That's so great. I'm happy for you and Ryan. This is what you wanted. Ya'll can start your family and live happily ever after." Jailee said grinning.

My head dropped. "He cheated on me." 

There was dead silence in the room at that point.

"You're fucking lying right?" Jailee said.

I passed her my phone to show her the text message that I received a few days ago. I'm still in complete shock that this has happened.

"What the hell." she said staring at my phone.

"Apparently he has a baby too, by someone else that was born a few days ago. It's just so much and I don't know what to do." I said holding back tears.

"Bitch, he went and had a baby on you while you're fucking pregnant? Is he fucking crazy?! Hell no." Jailee said.

I shook my head. "I don't know what to do. I really don't." 

"Leave his dumb ass, simple." 

"We're having a baby together. I don't want to raise our child in a broken home. That was never my intentions." I explained. 

"People co-parent all the time. You'll be raising the child in a broken home if you stay and deal with this shit. I know you didn't want this to happen but he's not thinking about you so you have to think about you and what's best for the baby." 

A single tear rolled down my cheek. "I'm weak." 

"Why do you say that?"

"...I don't think I can leave him. He's all I've ever known. I've never been with anyone else besides him. I love him so much and I just can't see us apart. My mom said we weren't ready to have a baby and I should have listened, but I thought things were great between us." 

Jailee sighed. "It's never going to be easy and you shouldn't allow a man to just treat you any kind of way. You deserve so much more than what he's giving you. I like Ryan and I know he's a good person but maybe he's not ready to fully commit to you like we thought he was. He has a lot of issues that he needs to sort out. He can't be putting all that bad energy on you." 

"I left him once Jai...I promised him I would not do it again. It took him forever to get over me leaving him and I don't want him to feel like I abandoned him again." I told her.

Her eyebrows raised. "Look at you now, look what he has done to you. You're sitting here pregnant, stressed out and crying your eyes out. The last thing you need is to be stressed because that shit will hurt the baby or even cause you to lose it. Think about yourself once and not everybody else."
