The car isn't even turned off yet when Emily runs out of the car and into the house, yelling loudly for my mother. I sit there, staring after her in complete shock.
A boy got my seven year old sister all excited. What the hell?
I turn off the car, grab Emily's shopping bags from the backseat and head into the house, making sure to lock the car before shutting the front door. Instead of taking the bags upstairs to her room, I drop them on the sofa in the living room before going to the kitchen, where I find my sister sitting on the counter as she tells my mom all about what happened earlier.
"Damn, Munchkin! You don't even get this excited when you see me." I frown playfully as I open the fridge door and pull out the apple juice. "I'm jealous."
Emily giggles from the counter. "Can me and Blake go to Cole's house? Please momma? His sister said it was okay and she said Blake could come too." Emily begs, throwing in her puppy dog eyes.
God, I hate that look!
"Who's the sister?" Mom asks, her brows furrowing in confusion.
I grab a tall class from the cabinet and let out a laugh. "So you know Matt's been living with his best friend, Veronica, since he was ten, right?" I start and mom nods. "Well, turns out, Veronica Stone is the big sister of our dear Emily's best friend, Cole Stone." I finish and mom lets out a chuckle.
"Matt's always spoken so highly of those Stone siblings." She chuckles, shaking her head. "Is he as sweet as Matt said he is?"
"I'm trying to hate the kid, but it seems impossible. He's adorable, reminds me a lot of Emily." I sigh, shaking my head.
Downing my juice, I put the carton back in the fridge and decide to help mom with her cooking. Emily runs to her room to change into her new clothes even though we don't leave for another three house and mom hasn't even agreed yet, but no one stops her.
"She seems excited." Mom says, peeling the potatoes.
"You should have seen her when she saw him at the mall." I chuckle. "I didn't know if I should be scared or happy that she got that excited over a boy." I sigh, shaking my head.
"Well, I hope you guys have a good time. You both deserve it!" Mom says and my smile falls. I was secretly hoping she would say we couldn't go because I don't like leaving her alone at home.
Sighing, I turn to face her. "We don't have to go, mom. You know I hate leaving you home alone." I frown and she chuckles.
Mom walks up to me and pats my cheek twice. "I won't be alone, honey. Zayn's mom is coming over later." She smiles warmly up at me. "And I wanna meet this Veronica girl." She says before turning her back to me and continuing with what she was doing.
"Why?"
"Because you left here in one of your moods but came back in a better mood." She says and I can already hear the smirk in her voice.
I raise a brow at her, even though she can't see my face. "Excuse me?"
"Oh please, son." She turns to face me, smirking. "Don't bother boring me with the whole 'she's just a friend' crap." She says. I open my mouth to say that Veronica's not even a friend, but she cuts me off. "Go get cleaned up and dress nicely"
I once again open my mouth to say something but her glare shuts me right up. Instead of going to my room to get ready, I go downstairs to the gym to waste some time.

The entire drive to the Stone's house Emily's been bouncing in her seat, the smile never leaving her face. I've never seen her this excited before. Sure she gets all excited on her birthday or Christmas or whenever she gets gifts, but this is a different kind of excited and it's honestly scaring me.
