As soon as I drop Cole and Veronica off at home, I shoot Mason a text and ask if he can meet me later in the day. He agrees to meet me at Denny's at 7:45pm after practice, so I shoot Matt a text and ask him to meet us there.

In all honesty, I wasn't planning on asking Veronica to be my girlfriend just yet because I wanted to ask her brother, best friend and father permission first. I'm no gentleman, but her family is important to her and I want to do this right and even though I already asked her, I still need her family's permission.

If they don't give me their blessing to date her, then I'll have to talk to her.

But I have faith.

It's 7:40pm when I pull into Denny's parking lot. The place is empty, only three tables being occupied. One in the back corner by five teenage girls, one in the front by the window by a old married couple and a booth at the back with, what I'm guessing, is a couple.

"Hi, would you like a table or a booth?" A short brunette walks up to me, a menu in her hands and a shy smile on her face, her cheeks colored a rosy red.

"Hey, a booth, please." I say and she nods, leading me to a booth at the back by the window.

"Can I get you anything to drink?"

"Three cokes and one large plate of crispy fries, please." I answer, not even taking the menu from her. Her brows furrow at my order, no doubt wondering why I decided to get three cokes when I'm the only one. She nods, her lips pursed and walks away.

I swear the chick doesn't even take three steps when suddenly one of the five teenage girls come to my booth, looking all flirty causing me to roll my eyes.

I'm not gonna lie, she has a hell of a body on her and she's not exactly bad to look at either, but I'm no cheater and I'd rather focus my energy on Veronica than entertaining girls who think throwing themselves at guys is attractive.

I know I was one of the main guys who took advantage of the girls, because in my mind if they were offering than who am I to say no when I know we'll both be having a good time at the end of the day, right?

But everything this girl is willing to offer, I can get with Veronica when she's ready. I'm not saying it's all I want from her, because it's not, and even if I have to wait years until she's ready to take that step then so be it, I'll fucking wait, but the only thing this girl is offering up is her body and a good time, when I can have a thousand different good times with Veronica and none of them has to be sexual.

I can get so much more with my Firefly than a one night stand and I'd be the biggest idiot to throw that away. Veronica is far from perfect, but that's what makes her perfect to me. She's aware of her flaws and even though she's fucking gorgeous, she doesn't use it to her advantage. She doesn't try to fit in.

She knows she's pretty, but what she doesn't know is that she is fucking beautiful.

"Hey, there. My friends and I were wondering if you wanted to come sit with us?" The girl in front of me smiles, tucking her hair behind her ear.

"No thanks."

"We could keep you company-" She continues and I suck in a deep breath to calm myself down.

A white Audi pulls into the parking lot right beside my car seconds before a red Mustang pulls in on the other side of my car, and I breath out a long breath of relief.

I am saved! Thank you, Jesus!

The door opens and I slide out of the booth. The girl in front of me starts grinning widely, no doubt thinking she succeeded in trying to convince me, but when I turn in the opposite direction of her table, her grin falls.
